Gov. Sarah Palin Delivers Her Big Speech at the Republican National Convention!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Van West Realty - Greenville, SC Realtor -Short Sale Expert! BIC #69041

Tonight was Gov. Sarah Palin's big night. It was her first chance to show millions of Americans just who she is, what she stands for, how she handles herself and what she thinks of both John McCain and their opponent, Barack Obama.

For those of you who saw her deliver her big speech at the Republican National Convention, the big question now is "did she deliver?"

She took quite a few jabs at Obama. She called him out on his lack of overall experience, lack of any executive leadership experience and lack of any specific accomplishments as a Senator.

Did she deliver the goods? Did she win you over? Do you have a newfound respect for her? Do you have a newfound admiration for her?

If you watched Gov. Sarah Palin's speech tonight, how do you feel about her now?

How can you even ask the question? Sarah has the heart of so many Republicans, and women business owners that struggle to balance home and family.  She is a role model for all.

I love her and she just won us the election.   I am thinking about her in 2012 as Presdent.  She is the heart and sole of America.

It is absurd that anyone could suggest or imply that Gov. Sarah Palin should simply stay at home and tend to her children and not take on the responsibilities of the Vice Presidency. Anyone harboring such a mindset is either sexist and ignorant, or they're simply so blinded by their party affiliation that they can't see straight! They'll say anything to put the community organizer into office with his gross lack of executive experience and thin resume!

I think Sarah Palin has the heart of America on her side. It's a reality that Mothers have to work and she should not be criticized for her choices.

No one is implying that she stay at home. She already had a job - she doesn't need one with the additional responsibility when she has a special needs child and a daughter who is obviously in crisis and crying out for attention.  There are many many many Republican women who are actually qualified for the job - it amazes me that the same party that talks of "merit" and "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps" and accuses someone of identity politics ends up picking someone with no qualificiation.

Do you realize that based on history, there is a 20% chance she could become President. Factor in McCain's age and bouts with skin cancer and the stats go up.

And for those of you who are so feminist - you realize Palin is 100% anti-choice, right? Don't let the packaging fool you; she also voted against funding for homeless pregnant teens and special needs children.

She is for abstinence, despite the fact abstinence did not work for her or her daughter (yes, Sara was with child when she became pregnant).

@Pacita - Bring it on, we can take it. After all, we have a candidate who did all the right things and made the right decisions. Married his wife before having children. Got through one of the best colleges in the world (through actual merit not becuase his Daddy was a legacy), was elected President of his Law Review by people of all colors, went back to help in the community (remember thousand points of light anyone?), has actually traveled outside the country more than once, who chose a VP who can stand in on Day 1 if need be . . .

I say no, because how can a person criticize someone about lack of experience and she has none or very little in what she spoke about. She just came across as a big joke.

VICTOR...you can't possibly be serious???...Oh...I think you really are.  And I suppose YOU can just step in from real estate agent and handle being a GOVERNOR?...that is...since it's "no big deal"?

@ Hope. Bottom line - she's a member of a party that believes in and strongly supports traditional values. Her husband cannot breast feed that child. Her husband cannot give the daughter the advice she needs to be a mother. I htink it is selfish of her to put her own ambition before the needs of her family.

JANICE...YOU BE "SURE" YOU "QUIT" YOUR JOB IF YOU BECOME PREGNANT....I'M "CERTAIN" YOU COULDN'T HANDLE A JOB WHILE BEING A MOTHER BOTH.  Oh...and by means, be sure to Home School, so your children will also learn how to grow up and ignore basic realities.

I was impressed!  Like most peope, I didn't know much about her until the convention.  I am more confident than ever that McCain/Palin is what we need in Washington!

@ David: Can't anyone read, or are you deliberately mis interpreting what I am writing. Hey, I don't mind repeating myself.

(1) Hello - She already has a job. Bottom line: Palin's family needs her more. She pretends to be this traditionalist, but she is not - she is governed by ambition. She can have a job, just not the one a hearbeat away from the most important job on earth - not while she has 4 children under the age of 18, a pregnant teen daughter, and a special needs infant who is still breastfeeding. As I keep mentioning, there are many Republican women who don't have a family that is clearly in crisis.

(2) All of you feminists realize that she is against birth control and choice, right? If it were up to her we'd all be home barefoot and pregnant.

@Leslie and other voters. It is dangerous to our democracy to make your decision based on one speech. Take a look at her record. She is not a fiscal conservative. She was not against the bridge to no-where: she was in favor of it until it became unpopular, then she turned against it but kept the money anyway. Despite getting $27M for Wasilla, she left it in a deficit.  She has no foreign policy experience.

Very good observations pointing out the fact about her mentioning her sons deployment.  Maybe not a big deal though but it was most like mentioned for votes.  A simple "I support our troops" would have done the trick.  She also mentioned that she has a child with special needs and would be able to relate.  Also most like mentioned for votes I think this comment could have went untold, if you are running for VP believe me everything about your family will come out.  And if she is a advocate why did she cut funding for special needs families in her state.  If anyone needs funding it would be a family who may have children with special needs.  Now we all change our stance from time to time on different issues so hopefully she just forgot to mention that in her speech (Huge Mistake).  Also that was a good one liner about the using a career to promote change but she will have to show more in this heavyweight fight.  From reading all the comments some seem to think she was a knock out but I thinnk the view from a nation as a whole wants to see some more rounds!

Does anyone know when she'll be speaking again, where I can catch it on TV? Any big event scheduled with her appearing? I can't wait for the VP debate! It will prove to be very interesting! She'll smile and be intelligent and very "Presidential" while Biden huffs and puffs like a blow-hard and turns everyone off due to his vulgar personality!

Wow Janice & Leeshay.  Janice, you just need counseling....Leeshay....you obviously are blinded by Obamamania.  It makes me NO DIFFERENCE if Palin was a Democrat or Republican.  Anyone that sets goals and achieves it and moves up the ladder by EARNING IT has my vote and especially a woman that has a harder road to hold with all the good-ole-boy politicians.

I have little use for McCain....he's no different than Biden who also has his good story to tell, but Obama has accomplished ZERO....no track record of acheivement! All talk, no action.  If I'm going to put money on a race with 2 people with neither having foreign policy experience it will be the hockey mom that ran the PTA and achieved something over a community organizer that can't show any evidence of how that acheived anything!

What are you Democrats afraid of?  Reagan seems to get a lot of allocades for great acheivements and he was a Republican...so does that make "him" the same as Bush?  I loved Bill Clinton...he was good at bring people together and I voted for him, but Jimmy Carter?...give me a break !!

Don't judge parties, don't judge race, don't judge women because they have children, don't judge women because of their children...judge people ON RESULTS...ON MEASURED ACHEIVEMENTS!

Knowing the market...the areas, the amenities, and

I totally think that Sara Palin was fantastic.  She was open, honest, and actually did not exaggerate her experience at all.  With an 80% approval rate in her own state, that is impressive.  Her delivery was strong, yet understanding.  Her comments about the main stream media and their so called, experts, was the best.  I also love the fact that someone dared to call out Obama on his "change platform".  I believe that most voters have little clue about how Washington works and therefore they vote with emotions rather than finding the facts that will support their candidate platforms.

Obama is scripted each time he makes a "memorable speech".  When he talks off the cuff, it is a disacter.  If he should win, just think of how the special interest groups will rule him!  There would not be one small business person who would be better off.

I will be campaigning for McCain/Palin at every opportunity.

I think that most people agree that we need to see more of Sarah Palin.  We need to hear more of her answers - unscripted!  I think she will prove herself again and again.  Also, I'm anxious to see how Obama plans to implement his ideas.

I'm not 100% on McCain, but I can't seem to get past the fact that the guy served our country over and over.  He has a military background - who better to have in office during wartime?  On the other hand, he looks like he's going to croak when he speaks - not a good perception for the leader of our country.

Where's Ross Perot?

WOW...this "Janice", who for good reason "HIDES" behind a false/fake/hidden identity.  This woman or whatever "it" is, needs some serious, I mean Serious counseling!  LOL

Janice...I think I've figured you out.  You have so much vitriol and are so obsessed about "Free Choice", I can only assume you wished your mother had aborted YOU but instead left you here to suffer in this world.  So sorry.

David dude what are you talking about?  You are blinded she said parents who have children with special needs would have an advocate in the White House.  I ask how can you be an advocate for children with special needs and cut funding for those families?  I said maybe she changed her view between the time she cut funding and now, maybe she will increase funding.  But if that is the case she should have came out and said that.  From that comment you just made about Janice you may need counseling.  Keep it clean Sir! Also the statement Obama has accomplished nothing is a flat out lie and you know it.  Hm I wonder if he graduated high school I think I will check out his Wikipedia maybe you should to.

Leeshay...you're typical of the left wing hype media believers.  Everything the radicals toss out there you gobble it up like red meat.  For example...

Your comment...

That is TOTALLY FALSE! and you are TOTALLY INCORRECT on your "facts".  Sara Palin INCREASED FUNDING FOR FAMILIES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS BY 176% FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR.  Are you listening to the hype left wing radicals OR are you checking your FACTS?  Mam.  I'll keep it clean...YOU keep it FACTUAL.

And I retract my comment that Obama has accomplished ZERO...that was an absurd exaggeration.  I should have said VERY LITTLE Accomplished.

David left wing, right wing, and a chicken wing.  Where are you going to the the information if you can't ask Palin the news right?  I stand corrected the same media outlet that reported she had cut funding has said that statement to TOTALLY INCORRECT and that she increased it bigtime.  Because the media (left wing, right wing, and chicken wing whatever all that means) is a source for facts I'm glad they cleared that up so I want be spreading false statements like the Bridge To No Where.

And you are still absurd VERY LITTLE accomplished compared to whom, I mean come on did you visist his Wikipedia?  If you don't think he is qualifed for the job he is running for that is fine he may not be but to say he has accomplished very little is just not true.

Leeshay....I'm fortunate that my office is in my home and has been for 11 years.  I turned my den into an office when I was in the process of transferring my license and location and decided to stay home.  As such, I have my big screen on virtually all day that I'm on the computer and I watch Fox, ABC, NBC, CNN, CNN Glen Beck, CNN Wolf Blitzer, CNN Headline News, MSNBC.

I find that watching all of them gives you a pretty rounded set of facts because when one reports what another calls a falsehood, then within a few days one of them is semi-retracting what they said but still trying to find a way to be just as critical in some other fashion.  It'd be nice if all the folks could just REPORT THE DAMN NEWS without a political SLANT!  I find the worst most inaccurate being ABC.  Within CNN you have some good folks that just have some pretty off-the-wall guests but when they put that idiot Jack Cafferty on....lord!!!!!!!...that guy is just plain hell-bent-stupid.  He seems like he just flat hates the entire world.  If he's married I feel for his wife! lol
