In her first...YES you heard me correctly...her VERY FIRST ActiveRain MeMe (My First Me-Me - SUPER Sized :)...Grace Safrin passed the Me-Me torch to eight more ActiveRainers...including ME. At the time of publishing her post, I was away on a personal leave. However, I promised Grace that I would fulfill my obligation AS SOON AS I returned home. HONEY...I'M HOME!!!
According to Grace...there are EIGHT little questions that I MUST answer before I'm allowed to go out and play in the 'RAIN'.
1. Who is your favorite musical artist?
This is easy to answer! Ever since I saw THIRD DAY in concert in Atlanta, Georgia (back in 199something)...I was hooked. The lead singer, Mac Powell, has the BEST Rock-n-Roll voice I've ever heard...and he writes and sings from his soul. This is my favorite Third Day song:
2. Who is your favorite artist?
Again...I do not have to think about this one. Thomas Blackshear is an amazing artist...capable of translating the most intense emotions and feelings...the intangible...into a tangible image that the rest of us can then 'see' with our human eyes.
And...of course...I have a favorite piece. I was walking through a shopping mall in Rocky Mount, NC (many years ago) when I saw this painting in a store window. I stopped in my tracks and stood in awe of his ability to perfectly portray 'FORGIVENESS'.
IF I could own any original piece of art...from any time in history...this is it!
3. Who is your favorite blogger?
OMGOSH...how could I possibly choose? I subscribe to well over 100 blogs, and I try to read every new post.
Actually...several of my favorite bloggers have not posted in a long time...Andrew Trevino and Julie Neerings. I miss you guys sooooooooooo much!COME HOME!!!
What I can tell you is that I am drawn to writers who write from their heart. I don't care if they are clever or great writers...as long as they are passionate and sincere.
4. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?
I would love to meet the apostle, Peter. He was not polished...not subtle...not well-educated...not a great speaker...not soft around the edges. Other than Jesus, he was the ONLY person in history who walked on water...yet he denied Jesus three times on the day of Jesus' trial. He was not the typical dude you would expect someone like Jesus to choose as a 'running mate'. I want to meetPeter because he reminds me that God custom-built each of us for a specific purpose...that even though I am so very far from perfect...I am perfectly loved by a perfect God.
5. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Growing up on Quail Roost Farm in Durham, NC...the ONLY thing I ever dreamed of being was a veterinarian. I spent my days and nights riding and grooming the horses on the farm, and I was absolutely certain that I would be the best veterinarian in the whole world. I actually followed my dream all the way to my senior year of high school. I applied to, and was accepted into, the NCSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Before the end of my senior year, I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in design. (Big jump from veterinary medicine to design to real estate, huh?)
6. What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?
Interesting or useless...YOU decide. Leonardo da Vinci could write with one hand and draw with the other at the same time. Pretty impressive, don't ya think? I wish I could do that.
7. If you could live in any point in history what would it be and why?
This is a very difficult question to answer, because I've always felt as though I belong in and to a different era. However, I KNOW that God placed me RIGHT here RIGHT now for a specific purpose. I have a wonderful husband and four beautiful daughters. I LOVE my life, and I would not trade any part of it for ALL the money in the world!
8. What is the most interesting job you have ever held?
ABSOLUTELY...POSTIVELY...UNDOUBTEDLY...there is no career on earth more interesting, diverse and challenging than real estate! It is also incredibly rewarding. I am certain that I am doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing...and I will continue to do it (through the good markets and bad) until God redirects my path.
Okay Graciella...I finished my homework assignment. May I go out and play? PWEEEESEEEE!!???!!
Ooooooooooooooppppsssss! I almost forgot the best part. I need to select the next eight torch bearers. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm ::LOOKING AROUND THE ROOM:: Who should I choose? I KNOW!!
When I first joined ActiveRain, I saw all of these 'MeMe' posts and had no clue what was going on. Then, after months, someone tagged me for a 'MeMe'. I am going to go to the Active Rain Newbies Group and pick eight people randomly. I'll be right back.
To ALL of YOU new guys...this is your chance to introduce yourselves to us. Once you write your post, please link it back to this one...as I have done to the person who tagged me. Please do not hesitate to call or email me with any questions. I cannot wait to read each and every one of your MeMe's. HAPPY BLOGGING!!!

Elizabeth... I really enjoyed your MeMe. Third Day rocks and I like that you would want to meet Peter and why! Very interesting...I would like to join you! ;-) oh yeah ... and I also liked what you said about God putting you RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW .... yup ....
LOL Elizabeth I got this Google alert email with that title and said ' What ?"
Awesome Me-me !!! I knew when I tagged you, yours would inspire but I also knew back then life was handing you alot at that time - thank God it worked out and thanks for sharing - love the artist - never heard of him nbefore your post - will check out the link. GBY.
SHARON: I'm so glad you enjoyed my little meme. IF I'm asked to write about me...I'm gonna write about HIM. GBU!
Grace Mary ELIZABETH: What a beautiful name! I'm so glad you told me that. I have always believed that names are very powerful. Yours fits you perfectly!! Te adoro, mi amiga!! GBU!
TRACY: You are not the first person who has said that. In truth...I joke around about the Southern accent, but I don't really have much of one. I worked really hard when I was in school to speak without an accent. One day...I realized it was mostly gone. ALL of my brothers and sisters have very heavy accents. They love to point it out to me that I'm different.
You know...what you said about my 'voice'. I made a promise to God a long time ago...that IF He ever gave me an opportunity...I would point people to Him. I gotta keep my promise. GBU!!
MARCHEL: IF that picture doesn't grab ya...you are dead. I still sometimes just stare at it. You should see it on canvas...simply stunning and captivating. GBU!!
ANNA: You bet, sister!! Just let me know when and where. AND...I can't wait for your MeMe. IF you have any questions or need any help...just pop me an email. I'll walk you through it. GBU!!
Hi Elizabeth! SO glad to know YouYou! I love this MeMe and can definitely see you in every single answer. We have more in common than our strong faith--my entire life, I was going to become a veterinarian! I was actually offered a scholarship to play ball for NCSU and was accepted into their amazing Vet School. Much to my parent's dismay, I chose a small college and chose to go into nursing which is where my best friend was going and doing and my 'boyfriend' at the time was local and not in Raleigh! On those very RARE 'bad days' in this business, I wonder if I should have done that anyway--then I realize that God's plan was NOT for me to go to State and that he had bigger and better things (my husband and boys) for me to take care of! Like you, I wouldn't change if for anything or any amount of money. Thanks for sharing yourself with us Elizabeth!
DEBE: Now I understand why I was drawn to you since the very first time I read your blog. It makes perfect sense. We actually have even more in common than you know. I'll share with you privately sometime. I read your 100K post, and I admire you so very much! You have a beautiful family! You are truly blessed and favored highly by the Lord.
On another note...you gotta teach me how to make a pretty signature like yours. I love it!! GBU my dear friend!!
GARY: Thank you for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I am going to call Julie today. We talk fairly often, but she does not know that I'm back at AR now. I'll tell her that you miss her also. GBU!
Good Morning Elizabeth! Our dear friend Gary encouraged me to make my way over to see you and your blog this morning. I love you and have missed you dearly too. As I have missed all of our friends here. I can't wait to be back to play in the rain too and hope it is very, very soon. God knows that I have needed to balance some things in my life and I have had to follow my heart for this time. Your MeMe was a joy to read and I look soooo forward to reading more from you. Sharing hearts, sharing joy and basking in the love of all those who are give so graciously. See you soon!
I loved your meme, of course I've never heard of a meme before now. I'm kinda new to AR and was invited to join this group. I was soooo touched by the canvas and your wanting to meet Peter, I couldn't stop looking at it!!!! I was mesmerized!!
I loved your meme (not that I knew what one was until now), but you should have heard the cursing when you tagged me!! On second thought it's a good thing you didn't! Okay, I'll play, but I'm difinitely going to need help since about all I can do at this is log on. What is this stuff about linking back to this post. Aagh! I guess you have to jump in the water in order to learn how to swim.
OOOO i got it. thanks for the help. sorry, i'm new to this web base networking thing. i'm used to talking with people face to face. have a great weekend!
JULIE: I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooo glad to see your beautiful name here...and your loving words of encouragement!! You always touch my heart with your words. I've missed you so much, my friend. I understand what you mean about the balance. It is not easy. Just take care of the priorities in your life, and we'll keep the light on for you here. GBU!!
GEANNE: Welcome to ActiveRain!!! You have no idea just how wonderful this place really is. You'll soon find out. Thanks for reading and commenting! I see from your comment that the painting had the same effect on you that it had on me. GBU!!
EVE: I'm sooooooooooo glad you are going to play along. You are a great sport! AND...I promise you that you'll be happy you did. If you need ANY help at all...just let me know. I'm here to help you learn how to swim. GBU!
KEITH: Welcome to the world of MeMe's!! Same goes for you...just let me know if you have any questions. You have a great weekend also!! GBU!
Eliazabeth: I can't wait to hear! As for the signature, I went to an online signature site, created it, copied it and just re-copy it into all of my comments and posts! The site is: www.mylivesignature.com. Have fun with it!
Elizabeth, every time I read one of your posts, I feel like you are so plugged into the network and HIS network at the same time. I aspire to reach out like you and I will be following your posts with much anticipation to see the great things that spill out. As for your favorite song, it is hard to beat Third Day's "Cry out to Jesus", but I have to say Brandon Heath's "Give me your eyes" has to be at least a close second for me. God Bless you...Jason
JASON: First of all...THANK YOU! Your words are so very obviously sincere and heart-born. They touch me deeply. A long time ago...I promised God that...to the very best of my ability...I would use the gifts He has given me to glorify Him...NOT glorify myself. I promised Him that...IF He ever placed me in a position of leadership...I would lead people to HIM. In some ways, I feel that the 'voice' that He has given me here at ActiveRain is a position of leadership. I just want to keep my promises to my Father. TRUST HIM!! He has a plan for YOUR life that will blow your mind.
GBU!!!
P.S. I LOVE THE SONG!!! I've listened to it 20 times. I want to learn to sing it for my church. :-)
