Are you wondering about Northern Virginia real estate and pondering what has sold recently?

Here's some information about the most expensive home sales in Northern Virginia (Arlington County, Alexandria City, Fairfax City, Fairfax County, and Falls Church City) for August 2008.  All information was obtained through MRIS.

Overall, there were 94 sales topping $1 million during the month of August 2008.

 AUGUST'S MOST EXPENSIVE SALES

Single Family Detached Homes:

  • 827 Herbert Springs Road, Alexandria, VA 22308 -- Sold on August 15th for $3,875,000.
    With 128 feet of riverfront and a dock on the Potomac River, this home on over an acre was really sold for the land less than 4 miles from Old Town Alexandria.  It was sold with approved architectural plans for a brand new home.

  • 8900 Gallant Green Drive, McLean, VA 22102 -- Sold on August 12th for $3,300,000.
    On 4.13 acres in McLean, this custom built home features a 1/4 acre Koi pond!  The home was built in 1989 and features 6 bedrooms 7 full and 2 half bathrooms on 4 levels.

  • 580 Innsbruck Avenue, Great Falls, VA 22066  -- Sold on August 20th for  $3,295,000.
    This 5 bedroom 6.5 bathroom home on 5 acres in Great Falls features a swimming pool, hot tub, tennis court, and English gardens.  It was built in 1986.

  • 804 Great Cumberland Road, McLean, VA 22102  -- Sold on August 28th for $3,004,250.
    This home was originally built in 1978 and renovated and expanded in 2004 to include a designer chef's kitchen, luxurious master suite and much more.  The heated pool and tennis court make this 5 bedroom 6 full and 2 half bath home on 5 acres a paradise.

  • 3LOT Long Manor Drive, Clifton, VA 20124 -- Sold on August 1st for $2,387,850.

  • 1600 Clarendon Blvd #M603, Arlington, VA 22209 -- Sold on August 18th for $1,601,000.

  • 2801 Lee Hwy #104, Arlington, VA 22201 -- Sold on August 28th for $975,000.
    The builder's model at Lyon Village sold for almost $1 million.  Its 2 bedrooms, den, gourmet kitchen, marble baths and great amenities and finishes helped to seal the deal on this 2,189 square foot brand new unit.
