I noticed a few days ago that they began vertical construction (i.e. walls) for what appears to be the new Super Target within Stone Hill Town Center in Pflugerville.  Since I live about 1.5 miles from this soon-to-be shopping center, my wife and I are anxiously awaiting its grand opening.

I found the rendering on the left on the website for the developer, New Quest Properties.

Currently, the only store completed and open is Home Depot, but it looks like that will probably change in the near future.  There is a free-standing retail building on the eastern edge of the (giant) parking lot.  From the developer's map, I believe that part of this will house a mattress store.  I guess there aren't any other mattress stores nearby - yet.

As a humorous aside, please feel free to read my opinion about mattress stores here:  Am I the only one wondering about this stuff?

They have made pretty swift progress on the exterior of the Target since the walls first appeared last week.  I told my wife that logic would dictate that they would want to open before the holiday shopping season begins, since so many retailers make the bulk (or all) of their profit during that month or so before Christmas.  With that in mind, I am cautiously optimistic about a November opening.

The development encompasses 96 acres on the southwest corner of 45 and 130 (both toll roads), and will feature over 1,000,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.  Other businesses which have already claimed space at Stone Hill Town Center include:

  • Best Buy
  • Office Depot
  • Bealls
  • 24-Hour Fitness
  • Ross Dress for Less
  • Kay Jeweler's
  • Jamba Juice
  • Verizon
  • Schlotzsky's
  • Dick's Sporting Goods
  • Chili's
  • Panda Express
  • Chick Fil-A
  • Rack Room Shoes
  • GNC
  • Sport Clips
  • Massage Envy
  • Smoothie Factory
  • Petco
  • Firestone
  • Washington Mutual (and at least two other banks)

Additionally, they are planning for office space and a very large new Cinemark theater.  I look forward to the convenience that this will bring, along with the potential for lower property taxes in the area as sales tax begins to roll into the city coffers.

Stone Hill Town Center, sure is going to be a big place. It looks like it's going to be a really fine looking place also.

I would think Target would want to be open before or by green Friday.

I love targe also...  Oh I forgot the accent...  The supertargets are great also- the produce is pretty good and reasonably priced.

I LOVE Target! What did we ever do without a Walmart and Target in every town? I would be so lost without them. :-) GBU!

Just what the community needed! We have at least 3 SuperTarget stores within a 20 minute drive from us. I guess we need Target and HomeDepot around.

Nice expose on the upcoming super center.

The architectural rendering of the new mall makes it look beautiful.  Although it would be nice to see some non-chain stores once in a while.  That is what I like about old downtowns is that you see more mom and pop type stores or some eclectic artsy type stores.  It gets boring seeing the same old chains everywhere you go, but I guess the rents are too high for the little guys.

Sorry--SuperTargwt will open in Spring 2009, well after the holidays. The free-standing building will include a Verizon Wireless store as well.

EMILY - I believe that both of them will probably open by the spring, but I wasn't able to confirm that yet.

How true it is on the mattress stores and we've only ever bought 1 from such a type of store.  Usually it's a wholesale club or something.  Can't wait for all the new stores to open! Thanks

Thanks for the update, Jason.  I have lots of clients that live in that area & am excited for all the new shopping coming their way!  It's time Pflugerville got a great development like this!!

I just talked to someone at Target Human Resources about employment at the Pville store and was also told the store would be opening March 2009.

KRISTI - I am also anxious for the new stores to open, since I drive past them two or three times per day.

SHANNON - Since I live about a mile away from this center, we are certainly happy about the new options.

RUSSELL - Thanks so much for the information!  Much appreciated!

There will not be a Cinemark or 24-Hour Fitness.  They have backout according to the developer.  They do anticipate another fitenss and theater company to replace them.
