I'm getting political!! Part 2

I am a Democrat as I've mentioned before.  I watched the Repubs convention last night and while I honor Senator McCain and realize he was speaking to the converted, I was aghast at the militarism in his speech and the whole slant of the evening.  BUT  I am WAY impressed by his mom!!   Wouldn't we all like to be like her at 96!

Back to politics and real estate - which ARE linked.  Our industry is the backbone "under all is the land".  Our industry is the both a big cause of and an effect of the economy.  When people feel good about their lives they can take that big financial decision and buy a home or an investment property.  The reverse has been true lately.  That affects everyone in America whether they realize it or not.  It is slower to affect those whose income is from tax dollars.  (Don't get me started here!)  But it eventually gets to them when "the funding" isn't there.

If there's one thing I'd like our highly funded professional organization to do it is to educate our children about the economy so that they understand that "under all is the land"  and why that is important to us all.

I agree that real estate and politics are very closely linked. And yes, when people feel good about their financial situations then they are more likely to want to jump into such a huge investment like purchasing a home.

I assume you link the two together in this blog to make the point that the economy is not doing so hot right now and that because of that, people are not making as many purchases. The market has shifted but there are plenty of people buying now, and buying at great bargain prices.

Education is crucial with everything! - especially financial concerns and the economy. I believe in personal responsibility for your money/savings/financial plans and stop relying on the government to pick up the slack after every mess we make.  It is every individuals responsibility to take care of him or herself in order to get ahead- not the government. Take a look at the link below and listen to the call. Personal responsibility is above all the way to get ahead, not whining about it to the government!

Kathy,

What you perceive as being militan is exactly why I am voting for McCain.  The world is a dangerous place and we should be very thankful there is a war in the middle east and not here.  We are fighting a war on terrorism over there.  If we are not in the middle east the terrorists will come back to the USA.  They will send their suicide bomber to Walmart, Coffee shops and our schools.  The only thing terrorists have is "FEAR".   I feel safer with McCain than I do with Obama.  The economy, education, black man vs woman, abortion, gay marriage, immigration, etc. is all secondary to the protection of our country.

thanks to both of you for your commentrs.  Nicole I am positive about America and its economy.  On a personal level, this current market has been better for me than 2001.  I work a lot at the lower end and there's ALWAYS business there.  THis fall is shaping up rather well.  And Jimmy, I understand your beliefs but I when I was in Uzebekistan (just N Of Afghanistan) I saw people who desparately didn;t want anything to do with radical behavior and just wanted to be able to feed their families.  Terrorism is real but I wish our spy guys were as good as they are in the movies and could take those responsible out without having to kill other people.

After the last eight years, it's up to us to keep America's promise alive.

How can John McCain pull us out of the deep hole we're in when he voted with George Bush more than 90% of the time?

The American people deserve more than a 10% chance at change.

No matter what McCain says, we can't bring about change by relying on the same ideas that have failed us for the last eight years.
