Finally after over a year my log home in Boonsboro Maryland is completed. Well mostly at least! Being the general contractor and completing a good portion of the work myself definitely is a time consuming process. Having going through the entire process from purchasing the land, obtaining the required permits, establishing all the utilities, building codes, to obtaining the final occupany permit really gave me a better understanding of the entire process. I have help clients buy and sell many homes and land and have bought, sold, and renovated several myself but it's not until you are fully involved from taking raw land to a finished home do you have the full picture of what is involved.

One thing for sure is building a log home is not like a standard home. The amount of woodworking involved as opposed to throwing up drywall takes a great deal more time although the outcome is worth it and very unique compared to many other homes in the area.

Hey Frederick,  that's a very beautiful property you have there,  I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of it and brag a bit.  Thanks for sharing this experience with us,  I know is not easy building a home from scratch, we've done a few projects here in San Francisco but the results are always rewarding.

Awesome home! Boonsboro is where Jeannie's Mom was born and raised. It is also the home of romance novelist Nora Roberts who has a book store on Main St (or had as I think it may have burned down within the past year).

Anyway, love the home. Looks like something you might see up at Deep Creek Lake!

Craig, it's a beautiful home.  And, I imagine the views from all the windows are amazing too.  Did you use a kit or build from design?

June- We got a design we found online and tweak it to our liking and our log dealer then sent the it as a log package.

Rob & Jeannie -Yes, Nora Roberts property did burn down earlier this year with is a shame but they are rebuilding it and I'm sure it will look great when completed. It still has all the original stone work which made up the entire shell of the home which is nice.

Craig-stunning!  I'm sure that it was worth the work and the wait to get it done.

That's great to hear about being able to save the stone shell of Ms. Roberts property. Keeping the historic Main St charm is important.

Hey Craig, bring me a buyer! Open this Sunday 1:PM to 5:PM. Send them by. Will Honor!!!
