Dear Douglas County Citizens:
As we enter into the middle of our summer camp programming, I would like to update you on some of the programs and park project improvements. The following are just a few of the great programs we have offered this year:
♦ Expansion of our day camp and sports camp programs, to include Deer Lick, Boundary Waters, and Clinton Nature Preserve.
♦ Movies in the Park at Boundary Waters. Our first outdoor Movies in the Park series was a great success with approximately 1,500 participants.
♦ Our annual Fishing Derby at Deer Lick Park drew over 200 children with some rather large fish capturing top prizes.
As to park projects and beautification efforts, we have accomplished the following projects:
♦ Completed a new park entrance sign at Deer Lick Park.
♦ Added a new fountain in the lake at Deer Lick Park.
♦ Paved a new roadway to the tennis courts at Deer Lick Park.
♦ Air conditioned the gymnasium at Deer Lick
♦ Started construction on the new park at Winston.
♦ Started the design process for our new park at Lithia Springs.
