It seems like this election has been going on for years - oops it has! Certainly some surprises, Hilary was supposed to be the nominee, Obama was a surprise. And everyone counted out McCain, but that was another surprise.
Everyone is wondering what either man can do to help their own personal situation. Being in real estate, my question is how can we help the economy to come back and how can we get back a more balanced real estate market. Certainly the real estate market was increasing at unheard-of levels a few years back and that couldn't go on forever. I don't really buy the idea that we needed this drop to balance things out. But we need some relief for people that want or need to sell and are unspidedown on their mortgage.
It will take awhile for the backlog of houses for sale to be sold and to make it more an even market than the buyer's market it is now. Buyer's take note - IT IS A BUYER'S MARKET AND YOU ARE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT.
Back to politics - How much can a president do to change things? He's not a dictator. He has a congress to deal with (not an easy proposition) and compromises to make etc. Can either man do what he promises? Probably not, at least, not quickly and not without some overall changes in the bi-partisan way government has been working in Washington. I have hope that things will get better. The economy goes in cycles and we're about due for an upturn.
