It really IS smart!

livescribe pulse smartpen

I got a first-hand demonstration of this smartpen over coffee with my niece the other day and it was nothing short of amazing.

the pen & dot paper notebook create an incredible paper based computing system (this one was purchased from Target for about 150-200)  A tiny camera built-into the pen essentially acts as a tracking device when used with interactive dot paper–

It can record what’s being said while taking notes – so later when revisiting that page – can replay what was being said at the time you were writing – with just a tap of the pen on that section of notes/paper.

This was the first I’d heard of this technology but seeing is believing.

features include:
the ability to translate English to Spanish, Arabic….and as other languages become available they can be added to the pen through website updates from my understanding.

a financial calculator, embedded speakers
Ever seen someone play a paper piano?
It’s true, I saw it with my own eyes!

Through a pen cradle - charge and connect it to your pc – to transmit, store and share data as well as get website updates - just as you would for other software.

Aside from the display on the pen, its appearance is typical and the
dot paper notebook looks like a standard paper notebook except it has tiny dots that even upon close inspection are barely visible.

likely to top wish lists in the coming weeks and months ahead, I envision great time saving potential with extreme accuracy in this technology –truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

After witnessing this pen in action, I checked out some online video demonstrations but it’s hard to beat a live product demo -

seeing is believing!

I saw this demonstrated on TV. It looks like such a cool toy, but I can't really justify the cost "just for fun". Now if I were taking classes where I was taking notes...

Thanks for the comment Scott - and that'sthe Best"est" reason of all! The post was screaming for one.
Love it! :)

Leslie- you're so right - might be a students New "best friend" - can you even imaging being able to record a lecture, and take notes that  get uploaded to the pc?! To be a kid these days....!

It could come in handy too for business meetings that entail a lot of detail, drawings etc. but agree it's value in terms of usefullness will vary between people and their particular needs - still considering the possibilities -

Dan - that does come close to how I felt seeing the pen in action.

Knowing someone can record a conversation through their pen might put a spin on the way this technology is viewed?  - hmmm - very James Bond indeed :)

Amazing what you can buy nowadays.  It seems to be mostly for the gadget person.

Hi Scott - the other day over coffee with a friend (who's in sales)  saw her notepad and couldn't wait to tell her about this thing....she'd get a lot of  milage from it and if you do a bit of note taking, I think it's worth checking out to see what you think.

Hi, I was googling articles about the pulse smartpen and this came up; i just recently got one of the pens (i'm a student) and it has exceeded my expectations. i just wanted to let you know about this deal that livescribe has right now, if you go to livescribe.com/store and use the code: SCRIBE5A20, then you can get a 5% discount! Anyway, the pen doesn't just work for students; i think it'd work really great for work conferences and assignments too (you never know what you might forget about at work) Just message me back if you have any questions or anything!

Tiffany - thanks for the visit and your comments, fun to have you stop in.

Norma - ....I believe they range around 150-200,'ish,- range with two options (one has more  memory/space from my understanding)?  I haven't checked the price first hand... amazon.com or  target may have that posted on their site(s). Think the one my neice opted for was the more space one at around 200'ish from a local Target store.

I think she said the dot paper notebook(s) came in a two pack but don't recall if the price was 10-20 ...I'll do some digging and let you know if I run across "Real" pricing - but that's a best guess from memory of our conversation that day.
