My little one-a fabulous Yorkshire (a recent  cancer survivor) gets home made food only. Yes, I cook for her. Her oncologist suggested that I prepare her food from now on. One of her favorites ( to keep digestion on track) is chicken tenders boiled in Organic chicken broth then mixed with a dollop of cottage cheese and white rice.

When I read about the pet food problem, I had heard that is was contaminated wheat from China. Nothing in the papers until just yesterday and said that the China imported wheat had a chemical contamination of a compound used to make plastic.

I thought the USA was the food basket of the world and didn't realize that we imported wheat from anywhere much less China. ( Us farm subsidies paid not to grow wheat ??). I am amazed-though not surprised I guess. We may be going to that hot place in a hand basket ( made in china too I suppose). Wake Up America! We are still the greatest land on God's green earth but I think we may be losing our identity rapidly.

William, I hope you posted this in the Eco All Star group and the Dog lovers group. I too am concerned about our food supply. This was a wake up call that I don't think many are paying attention too. Not only am I concerned about Nestley and Hersheys food but yours and mine as well. When you add up dog food, peanut butter and spinach it's scary. The saying think globally and act locally really adds up. I'm not going to go around crying wolf exactly, but I'm paying more attention for sure.

I wrote you a wonderful post and before I released it, I clicked on your profile and when I returned, I realized I lost the rather long post I had written. It gave the idea that it could have been a blog post and now , since I have to try and remember all that had written,I might as well share with everyone.

As for Eco All Star group and the Dog Lovers group, I am  new to blogging and ActiveRain is about it for me. I would have no idea how to repost the last blog entry on those sites.

Thanks again for your response and you seem enlightened and should share more of it here for others. I for one would read it.

I will add one trite thought that occurred to me. Many folks probably read the numerous more serious posts on this site but they seem to respond more often to the more light hearted of the content. Serious stuff and important things, though likely read, may require a too detailed of a response? I am still learning my way as a blogger and likely what I am thinking will be born out. On the other-hand, being new, maybe I am totally incorrect and will learn more about this as I become a more experienced blogger.

William ~ good for you in preparing your pet's food.  I did not realize that China grew wheat.  That is downright scary.  I hope this works itself out soon for the better.

You are right about the "light-hearted" posts getting more attention.  It is not always the case, but more often than not the commentors tend to go for the easy response.

Thanks for your thoughtful post,

kk

You are so welcome and thank you for your thoughts as well. I have to stop talking so much on here and do my work, LOL. It is addicting and only productive if keep in Harmony with our careers. They are intense enough I suppose , no point in adding to the anxiety. I am learning about all the blogging stuff but we should all limit it to useful stuff, right? Not just to stroke our egos, LOL. I used to tell people I don't even have an ego. I stopped saying that when I realized what a stupid comment it was. Of course we all have egos , just that some are out of control,LOL

Sincerely,

William

PS, They need to add the words, blogging, blog and LOL to Dictionary

William:  I love your very deep thoughts.  I already cook my boys' AM meal:  a mixture of rice, yogurt and egg but they get dry in the PM.  We had our Italian Greyhound Meetup today and talked about cooking and foods.

I like the twist and angle you have taken.  Very interesting!  I thought we were the bread basket too!  Can't we get China in any corner?

Thank you for responding to my post.

In regards to dry. There is a cereal company as I remember is a Kashi Foods, they make healthy cereals. Now that the dry stuff is also showing possible contamination, it might be worth looking into their offerings.

I have had to spend a fortune on getting her teeth cleaned regularly and they have to sedate her which makes me so uneasy. She isn't interested in a tooth brush or anything that resembles one. It is my belief that our little ones need things that keep the tartar under control ( beyond the trip to the dentists (vet) office and go for the big ordeal. Crunchy dry foods may help. She has been through 25 weeks of chemo and cruelty can take so many unintentional forms. And that and teeth cleaning to her is exactly what it represents. ummmmmmm

You little greyhound is very cute. My Yorkshire after losing most all of her hair, it has grown back in a totally different color and instead of being straight, it is as curly and tight as an afro. The Vet said it will take a year or so but that her normal soft and golden hair may come back but no guarantees. She is so cute this way( like a woolly bear) it is OK if it stays just the way it is.

On the China thought, as that dragon grows, I would presume that it will want to dominate the world with its still growing fiery breath. It seems we are paying them to expand their influence bu buying so much stuff from them. That said, I think the faster growing menace are the  not so loving extremists and they may want dibs on us first. My biggest fear is that our people are becoming so passive as to invite these dangers in that might not otherwise have shown themselves so blatantly. I sure wish I had an answer. Any answer, really,  that would make this not so perfect world a safer place.

All the best in your new location. Sounds like a lot of interesting fun.
