Vanderbilt Beach Naples
Many eyes including those in Naples are on the forecast... however today was just another day here in Paradise....gorgeous! I spent the day at the beach after first making a stop at the new Whole Foods ( located conveniently at the end of Vanderbilt Beach Rd and on 41) It was fabulous and I got some yummy snacks to take to the beach.
Vanderbilt Beach was aptly named reportedly by J. B. Conners. Conners from Tampa, was a road builder and land developer. Around the 1950's he started platting the area and thought it would add a touch of class to name the beachfront Vanderbilt Beach. He reportedly hoped to attract the wealthy and thought the name would add an air of status and affluence. His influence is still evident in the fittingly named Conners Park on the corner of Vanderbilt and Bluebill, land donated for the purpose of a park by Conners.
His marketing idea with the name Vanderbilt was appropriate and apparently worked .... Vanderbilt Beach is home to the world reknowned Ritz Carlton. One of two Ritz hotels located here in Naples.
The Vanderbilt area for a long time was unpopulated and used much as it is now for; fishing, boating, gatherings and fun! Later in the 1970's development arrived both commercially and residentially. This area is now home to many waterfront high rises, residential homes and condos, and some new projects such as Moraya Bay .

As always residents here continue to do the necessary storm preparations during this hurricane season. One eye is on the weather and life goes on. For up to date weather information Weatherbug is a great source as well as our own Collier County Government Website. This website not only has weather updates but also has storm prep recommendations, human and animal shelter information , evacuation information and important phone numbers.
If you are interested in the Vanderbilt Beach Area I am here to assist as always At Home By The Gulf
