Auto Responders are POWERFUL Tools!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

Auto-responders are great.

After someone enters information on your website and they leave your website they may lose your contact information.  You  are missing a great opportunity to immediately remind them to add your website to their list of favorites so they can easily revisit.  It also quickly lets you know if the email address they gave you is a working address.  Make sure all of your contact information is included.  Take no shortcuts here.  Don't even assume they know what state you are in.  They may be looking or working in multiple areas.  A picture and or logo starts to cement you with their intended purchase or sale.  Remember you are brand building one contact at time!

"I" hava mix feeling about autoresponders. It's good if you are on vacation, in training, away for a day or if you are going to use it in response to a form filled out on your website for a non-primary email address.

However, when an agent uses the autoresponder for 24/7 communication, the last thing a client need is to receive a autoresponder message everytime an email is send to the agent.

Everything triggers a autoresponse message even in response to an agent's quick email received 30 seconds prior.

Scott and Carolyn make good comments, both pro and con for autoresponders.  I wonder if sometimes I can disable mine, especially if I check my website a jillion times a day.  I agree that if you're on vacation or gone for a few days, it's great!

Christopher,

You should be able to disable your through the back end control panel even if you are using a Z57, IHouse, Pullan, or Advanced Access website. If your are using a customer website, take a look at the control panel provided by the hosting company. I host my sites through LunarPages.com and the control panel is very simple to use with autoresponders on available for each email account.

Oh,  Autoresponders are also good if you offer free reports.  If the user submits a valid email address he or she will receive an autoreponder email with the reports and you will have the email address for you database. If not, you will know that it was another person tampering with your site because the autoresponder will bounce.

Food for though.
