I recently purchased my new Tablet PC and it came with the Windows XP ( shipped mid January 2007). I will get the upgrade disks to Vista but when I ran the Windows Task List, I discovered that there are a few hardware upgrades needed before I can upgrade to Vista. There were 8 software titles needing upgraded as well. Has anyone actually done this type of upgrade. Seems sort of annoying that the hardware is brand new and still needs upgrading. The last item is the Video Card. Is that even possible to upgrade on a Tablet PC?

4 Comments on Windows Vista Task List-a bit confusing?

There have been a lot more problems than that. A lot of people are having problems getting on the MLS' or updating the PDA's. Some software isn't even working on VISTA yet and they haven't created upgrades for it yet. Our software / computer people are telling us to wait at least a year to get Vista to hopefully avoid these problems.

Very good advice. I think I will also wait and not press it. But I will be following up with my Tablet PC manufacturer and ask them to fix these hardware issues while it is still new.

Thanks Again,

William

Dear William,

My wife uses Vista and believe me, it is still very buggy,   it came with the vista home premium installed, I bought the   Vista Ultimate and I have not decided to take the step to install it, after I have seen many reviews that it has many bugs, I prefer to wailt a little bit.

What do you think ?

From everything I am hearing, don't install the upgrade. Each level of Vista Windows sets up new requirements and likely new barriers. My reaction to the advise I am getting is that we should all wait until we start getting input that things have been cleared up. That would be my best guess , since i am currently not using it. I purchased my assistant a new computer and it came with Vista. I am over there trying to straighten things out on a regular basis. So far I have done it OK but I keep things simple on his computer so it won't get screwed up. My Tablet PC has so much on it as it use it in many different ways.

Thanks for the post,

William
