Pikes Peak Blows off some steam

Pikes Peak VolcanoCarrying a camera around comes in handy.  Today when I was out showing homes on Happy Canyon Road in Castle Rock, I had to pull over and take this photo.

Forty-five miles off in the distance we could see smoke coming out of Pikes Peak.  Worse for the terrain was the red hot lava that was flowing down the mountain side.

I think with all the snow we've had this year Pikes Peak just got pissed.  She figured the best way to melt the snow was to blow.

Stand back folks.  You really don't want to mess with Mother Nature!

Ya had me going.  Happy April fools day!  I actually had to analyze the photo, it looked suspicious.  Then I remembered what day this is.

That was good - before looking at the photo I was picking up the phone to call my sister who has a beautiful view of Pike's Peak from her deck... nice one - love the photo enhancement

I was so busy the last couple of days that I didn't see the news.  You had me going.  It took me a second to realize it was April Fools Day.

And I was just fixing to say I didn't even know Pike's Pesk was a volcano! Ha a good one Kristal!

That didn't fool me for a nanosecond.  I've been on Pikes Peak.

That &^#$#%^**  mountain makes it's own weather.  That's all it is.  I was advised that, if I could drive to the top of Pikes Peak, it would cure acrophobia, from which I suffer.  It didn't.  I got to 9,000 feet and had to stop.

My friend said, "No, Lenn, I'm not driving.  You can do it".  To which I replied, "Fine then I'm backing down".

He drove the rest of the way and I crawled to the observation place and threw up.

Hated that %$#$%^&  mountain.  It followed me everywhere it went in Colorado Springs with a big black cloud and thunder and lightening all around the peak.

I can see the enhancement, but I'm lost on the news.  I don't watch the news.  Joke or not, I still enjoy your pictures so much Kristal.

ROFL to Lenn.  I'm sure it wasn't funny when it happened though.
