Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty LANDMARK

okay 5 months ago a rep from tony robbins (the motivational speaker to the celebs) stopped by for the yearly PEP talk and their attempt to pimp their products/service...

 As one of the youngest agents here at our company, i need to distinguish myself even more than the average 50y/o remax agent and to be honest, I REALLY NEEDED A VACATION (since i never had one in last 2 yrs- excluding last months atlanta remax convention) hahaha...   NOOO its not conveniently located (NJ, and i live in queens~1:30 hrs away w/traffic) but is there anything worthwhile that comes easy???

My first impression as i looked around the room is WOW the average age here is probably even younger than me...  "lost souls, with no idea where life was leading them i assummed."   BUT im a RE/MAX agent, i had a very good 2nd yr of RE and already on pace for the 250K platinum award for 2007 SOOOO wut can this NON-RE agent speaker do for me???

w/i the first hour i really resenting wasting my money... felt disgruntled... and was like WTF???  i feel like im in a big church super long service.... all the cheering/jumping up and down/yelling:  NONE did i partake...

BECAUSE afterall im found, i know where im going, good Rship and business is booming... but then he did a couple of excercises which hit mutliple personal buttons... EVERYONE can be better/do better/become better... As i closed my eyes i turned off all the RE crap out of my mind for the rest of the day... and then it finally hit me: there is something, someone much more powerfully inside that i just was hesitant in releasing....  TONY explains it as limiting beliefs... and its amazing how one little one can affect your entire life....

i have to get some rest soo i can make the last day of the seminar... but im interested in hearing from any tony robbins supporters AND HATERS as well...  your thoughts are much appreciated....

thanks for reading and remember:

Now I am the VOICE,

I will LEAD, not FOLLOW,

I will BELIEVE, not doubt,

i will CREATE, not destroy,

I am a force for GOOD

I am a LEADER                 ~ TONY ROBBINS

 ~~~~~eddie   PS i never realized the guy curses sooo much live hahahahaha
I have listened to a Tony Robbins CD set years ago while making a long, long drive alone. I thought some of it was BS but some of it resonated. Take what works and don't worry about the rest.
What is the old saying, when the student is ready, the teacher appears?
Best of luck. And GET SOME REST!
I too, listened to his tapes years ago.  I have to say it did get me motivated to do the things I had been putting off....which made me feel better.  Now I take the things I LEAST want to do and do them first....AHHH
thanks for the comments!!!!
just a thought about marcs comment though...
although i agree its the person that ultimately has to motivate themselv... but wanted to ask: heyyy wasnt michael jordan the best basketball player of all time and didnt he go to tony as well????
WHEREVER the person is today... there is always a better place we can gooo (either financially or Rship wise to name my 2) and unless you are the TOP RE agent in the world, YOU have not reached your maximum potential...  even the BEST (like jordan) needs a different view of things and tony is the master psychologist out there...
we all think we are excellent agents, but there is a level of OUTSTANDING that we all need to strive to achieve...  hope all our friends strive for that and i will see you all there....  and once we all get there there is a level of SUPER OUTSTANDING  and then once we get there..... hahahahhaha
have a great successful year to all
PS listening to tapes is NOT equal to being at one of his seminars... be prepared to be active!!!!!
I attended Tony Robbins' seminar in NJ in 2005 and it was life changing.  I even changed my diet and began excercising after it, losing 40lbs.
I have gained all that weight back but I appreciate your post because you just inspired me to get back on the ball.
I was skeptical about Tony's seminar also, but I found that going through that experience was extremely powerful.  It might not be for all, but when the student is ready, the teacher appears.
I wish I knew about this seminar.. I'd be there in the crowd (again) with you!
I would only do the live events though.  He's an inspiring person and really down to earth, I never knew he was a real person.  I used to think he was just that weird, loud, big-headed guy on late-night informercials.
You said: "well if you want to succeed the answer is yes... "
IMHO, that is completely wrong!
You're saying you can't succeed without paying for help!?
I hope that was an accident.
@Marc: No you can't succeed without Tony Robbins!  ;)  j/k
Of course you can succeed on your own, but you can be limited in your success if you do not have help.  Whether you pay for it or not, help is necessary to succeed at a higher level.  Without a coach to push you and help you become better, you will be limited to the scope of your own experience.
Did Tiger Woods get to where he is on his own?  Did Michael Jordan?
Now, whether that's Tony Robbins' organization or another coach, a mentor in your workplace, a family member, friend or someone else, is up to you as an individual.
No man (or woman) is an island.
I heard him a few years ago and it did nothing for me. I'm a self-motivator and the rah-rah guys like him who TALK and don't DO?  They just irritate me.  If you do any studies of personality types (i.e. DISC), I'm a D-and D types have no use for his brand of crap.  I am successful and I have help at home and from above-I don't need CDs or coaches to be who I am and to be successful.  It depends on me.
I'm a high "D" with a lot of "C" in me.  My husband is a high "C" with a lot of "D" in him.  Yes, we have power struggles (I win of course - j/k) but we are very much self starters.
@Leigh.  I'm a very high D and a pretty high I with little S or C (same thing with the AVA test), and I STRONGLY disagree with your statement "D types have no use for his brand of crap."
I respect that it didn't work for you, and I applaud you for your strength, but please don't speak on behalf of the rest of us D's and please don't discount someone else's positive experience.
Yes, I have listened to Tony Robbins tapes in the past and they worked for awhile.  Guess what?  I put them in a closet and didn't listen anymore.  You are your own motivator.
Please READ what I wrote THEN comment.
My point was that you don't need to waste money paying someone to help you.
As Leigh said: "I don't need CDs or coaches to be who I am and to be successful.  It depends on me. "
EXACTLY!
And Dianne: "You are your own motivator."
RIGHT!
@Marc:  Sorry... the syntax of my message made it look like my entire post was @you. All that was directed to you was the joke : "@Marc: No you can't succeed without Tony Robbins!  ;)  j/k"
What followed was a general statement and not directed at any one specific person.  Sorry for the poor syntax.  Cheers!
I think that Tony Robinson as well as other motivational speakers or life coaches, clergy etc, can indeed be life changing and helpful, for an example some people are negative and although they may be successful in business they suffer internally and somewhat externally by being close minded and negative. Having a Masters degree in Behavioral Medicine I know how effective coaching is. No one is perfect and everyone can indeed improve in some way. Now motivational speakers may not be for everyone. Some find their Church, counselor, friend, mentor to be more appealing. For me I use them all! Even my fellow peers can be uplifting. Moral of the story is if anyone has anything stereotypical to say in reference to Tony Robinson, it would seem to me you have found your weakness right there. Not everything works for everyone! Live and let live! Re-phrase by saying "I prefer to use my spouse and higher power, but could see how a motivational speaker could be helpful". That is good communication! I too am a high D and love motivational speakers! Our minds are like computers ... garbage in .. garbage out! SO whats wrong with getting some good positive data in.. even if you dont find it to be life altering?
To YOUR prosperity and abundance!
Jamie
I just returned from his UPW seminar.  It was the most amazing experience of my life - and I didn't expect it.  Of course, the CD's are valuable but they are NO comparison to the energy he gives off in person.  And I am not easily impressed!  I'd pay 3 times what I paid for that weekend and I'd recommend to any person, regardless of their level of success!
I saw Tony Robbins this past summer and he is a tremendous presence.  The agents that have joined his programs are some of the biggest producers in my office.  I'm a big fan of tony robbins.
