That is a sight! When I bought my house the mail box was the original - manufactured in the USA in the year 1940 something. The address still had a "rural route" on it that probably hadn't been used for 50 years. The post was rotten so it was broken out of the ground and it was all laying up against a retaining wall. I went to Lowes and bought a new one with a stand that cost me about $45 and what a change! Paint is always a great option for so many things too.
Ardell,
I hate it when there are seven mail boxes, no address numbers on the building, and you have to figure out which house goes to which mailbox.
Hi Ardell,
I think they were going for the rustic look! It is a good idea to paint them and an identifier.
I love that shot......'mailboxes of america' would make a great themed blog or book.....when i had them, i used to stencil mine ......or paint them to match my house.........
Great post! A very inexpensive way to add some curb appeal!
