I just received some really exciting news (well, earlier today but I've got the bug going around so I've been sleepin').

John L. Scott Quality Street Magazine has selected my work for the front cover of their quarterly publication! Woohoo! :)

However, if that wasn't good enough, my client (Thurtle group) never submitted the photos for the QS cover!

JLS called her, requested to use the photos due to their outstanding quality (and of course a really great house), and waived _ all _ fees!

Wow, I feel really honored!

Ironically this was my very first paid real estate shoot. No kidding. I've done a mountain of shoots since, and my business has really grown.

It looks like they will be using the same cover shot that was featured on Distinctive Homes (I was hoping to for a different shot for variety's sake - but I'll live with this one. Yipeee!).

Anyway, I just wanted to share the happy news. :)

As always, thanks for all the great support I've received here at AR.

Byron,thanks very much. Cover shot, yes! I've had my work in every northwest Distinctive Homes since I branched out into architecture / real estate so the covers are really the exciting bits. :)

Deborah, thank you - would you believe I exposed the photo incorrectly? It was almost a total loss, way too contrasty. I had other better exposures but wanted this angle. So I had to actually push the exposure on the same photo three different times, then blend them back together. Apparently it turned out ok. Whew!

Sean, thank you. things are moving extremely well in my business. I just got tentative offer to be flown out to various sites in the country for a specific designer. This is very good news in my line of work.

Cheryl, thanks for your support as always. It's nice to have a good home here on AR. The photography group has made me feel very welcome. :)

Mike thanks,I'll post when available - should be this upcoming quarter. It will be the same pic though, just with different 'dressing'.

I've been shooting real estate less than a year. I've been very fortunate in that period of time - the growth in my business as been astounding.

Well, JLS Qs has the finals in their hands now. It should be the next printing as they were actually holding the run for my shots. Somehow I'm always the last to know about these things so it took me an extra day. :)

In other exciting news HDR soft, makers of photomatix are going to use me as a featured photographer to showcase their software!

This has been a good week. Now if I could only get over this flu! :(

Jennifer - thanks very much. The designer actually built a second house that was in his words "50% improved". I toured it just recently in preparation for shooting and I'm very excited as it's going to make for some wonderful photos.

I'll post when they are available (it will be a few weeks I think).
