Also, all of the #2 can be correct depending on definition. :)

Judgement.... Yes there are two spellings. I remember several years ago when I was a U.S. Navy Ensign (very low ranking officer!) I was the admin officer for an older Commander. He was a stickler for details. I misspelled "judgment" and, being hardheaded, I questioned him. Hey this the days before spellchecker was common - not the stone age, only the early 80s!  Looked it up and sure enough, there was a "British" version. I don't remember which way it was but he told me that "When you join the British Navy, You can spell it the British way." Enough Said! With spellcheckers we should never have it incorrect!

lol to Gary.  I learned the meaning and spelling of ensign with Mister Roberts, the Henry Fonda flick.  Yes, it was before my time, but gee how I love those old films.

Got them all correct.  I USED to always win the spelling bees (and that was a LONG time ago.)  Now, I find I have to double check my spelling quite a bit.  Thanks for a fun post.

This is like my worst nightmare!  I once got eliminated from a spelling bee for separate....I've never recovered,...and that was almost 40 years ago.

Eileen, I found myself saying the word and then spelling...I would have asked for you to give me a sentence...a regular spelling bee right here in the RAIN. I did quite well but will always use my spell check just in case. Thanks for the fun!

Let's thank FACTIVA a Dow Jones company that tracked the top mis-spelled words used in American news media.

The #1 mis-spelled word: JUDGMENT

That's the correct American spelling.

All the correct spellings were the A's with the exception of number 3 which is C.

Now, I grant you that this is a tough little quiz...in fact, my handsome, intelligent spouse missed two of them! So, don't feel badly.

The reward? Knowing that when you blog you are correctly spelling these words. Now, that's an achievement in itself!
