It's high time for change in Washington and John McCain offers that change.
Don't fool yourself into thinking that Obama represents change. He really represents more of the same - TAX AND SPEND.
Our economy and our very existence are at stake.
What will Obama do for us, or should I say do to us?
He will increase employee taxes. He says he won't raise taxes on the middle class but what do you think that will be? Social Security and Medicare taxes are already very high and he wants to make them higher. So much for a middle class tax cut.
He will increase taxes on the job creators (small business owners and entrepreneurs).
And if you are lucky enough to make more than $250,000 expect him to take a big chunk of it away from you.
He doesn't want to drill for oil. He thinks that we will save enough oil by simply inflating our tires so we won't need it. If anything is simple, it is Obama. We need that oil and we need the money that we are currently sending to people that don't like us and want to hurt us.
He thinks that erecting barriers to trade will protect jobs in the rust belt. Who is he trying to kid? Those jobs are gone. We need new jobs, new skills, and greater participation by everybody. In stead of trade barriers we need trade incentives to sell our products all over the world. We need to fight the EU and Asia with their own tactics. Do you think Airbus could sell a single air plane if they weren't subsidized by the EU?
Obama wants to talk to the extremists that are trying to kill us. The longer we talk the more time they have to get ready for their next strike. Haven't we talked enough already?
The more I see and hear about Obama the more I see the same old thing: tax and spend and surrender. After all, some faceless bureaucrat in Washington knows what is best for you.
Let's get real! We want and need REAL CHANGE.
John McCain offered real change when he selected Sarah Palin as his running mate. Thank God for the real people that make up our frontier. We do have a chance to survive.
A couple of months ago I wasn't so sure. Now I am full of HOPE. And I hope you are too.
Vote for change in Washington. Send McCain and Palin in there to clean things up.
Bill- YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! You got the guts and bravery to speak up for McCain/Palin for CHANGE! Mavericks to the rescue! The pitbull will take the elite down and put them in their place and give the White House back to the people.
You are right, but it is even worse as Obama keeps changing his mind on what he is going to do, speaking out of both sides of his mouth. What gets me is he never once squealed on Mayor Daley, he stood by and watched corruption in Chicago and being the opportunist that he is, turned a blind eye. His wife worked for Chicago Hospital with a pay check of $120,000. Within 2 years she gave herself a payraise to $320,000! In a hospital! They want to keep their millions but want to take ours. They think they know better what is best for us, than we know ourselves. It is a sad commentary that he thinks we are all lesser than he, all peons that need to be taken care of by big government.
We do make as a small business that 250K you are talking about. We need to hire another staff member and we won't be able to if Obama is elected because of the tax increase he would put on us.
What this does, is make people who make money take their money elsewhere or not work as much, that will hurt the economy.
Bill: Welcome back. You've come back "swinging"... Go, Go, Johnny Go!! Get ready for "full-fledged" attacks on Sarah's religion... it's just starting.
Obama's "no cap" on social security will NOT get him elected. This idea is especially bad for small business owners. I do like the idea of more money going into social security, however. Maybe a cap for the employer payroll taxes at $102,000 but the employee continues to pay. Sounds like an accounting nightmare.
Katerina, I knew we were both on the same page here. California and Florida are both in play this year. You do your share, I'll do mine. Good lock to us and God bless America.
Michael, You are up there in that NW Washington area so I realize you have a lot of liberal pressure on you, but do you really want to spew those Democrat "talking points"?
This election is probably one of the most critical ones in our lifetime. I hope you have a chance to really study the issues and reflect on what is at stake.
Jan, I don't much care for Social Security. The SS tax is very hard on self employed people and the benefit is no where near enough to retire on. Raising that tax hurts the poor and the middle class. Only the rich dodge that bullet.
We need to expand our economy AND curtail government spending. We need to stop sending so much money to our enemies and even to our friends. We need to keep more of that money here.
Energy independence would do a lot for us. A lot more than raising the self-employment tax would do.
It is nice to talk with you again. And yes "go Johnny go."
Obama's plan might raise YOUR taxes, but I don't make anywhere near $250,000 and it won't affect me. McCain offers four more years of favoring the rich, while the rest of us can hope for something to trickle down far enough to reach us.
Your post is quite full of the same falsehoods and half truths that are in McCain's ads and speeches. You really should check your facts.
Bill - I don't quite agree with all/most of this, in fact I don't think either party or candidate represents the kind of change our Country and our Government needs. I respect your opinion, none the less.
Leslie, I'm sorry to hear that you feel that way. As a Westerner I would think that you would value your freedoms. Anyway, thanks for commenting. Bill Roberts
Bill - It's good to see you back posting again. I wondered what had happened to you! I agree with your points here. McCain definitely has my vote, but he will carry Texas regardless.

You NEVER raise taxes in a recession!
