I wrote a blog awhile back "Staging Martha Stewart Style" and this past weekend Stage a Star had the opportunity to do just that!   This was a vacant property and in the master bath was open shelving....a prime candidate for Martha Stewart stylin'!! When I walked into the bathroom during the first initial visit and spotted those shelves, I was excited!  (I secretly couldn't WAIT to get my staging hands on that space!)

The Realtor had told me that it was awkward without any doors but the homeowner/builder designed it that way because he visualized the open shelving as convenient to put all your stuff on.  Both were correct.  "Awkward" because empty, the space felt un-finished and potential buyers just couldn't see passed that.   "Convenient" yes....the open concept could definetly be a great selling feature if presented the right way.

A little Martha Stewart stylin' and.....Oh my!  I think the staging made all the difference in this little spot!

Teresa ~ Love the baskets!  I think that the way you set it up, very neat and orderly, makes it look very appealing.  Those baskets can hide a wealth of clutter!

Hi Teresa, You transformed the area to a serene, spa like atmosphere, and that is a good thing!

I really liked what you did - and so would Martha.  As soon as I saw the empty shelf picture, I envisioned a similiar end result as yours.  That's why we're stagers!  Not everyone can see the wonderful possibilities - so we just have to show them.  Great job!

Awkward no more!  Simple and tastefully done.  A buyer would have no trouble falling in love with that bathroom.  Excellent work, and geat pics.

Great job! I love the white on white with the warmth and texture brought in via the baskets.

Great picture too, thanks for posting it!

Theresa,

Very nice work!  I like the idea of the open shelving, it gives the room more of a spa feel with the towels exposed.  Glad to see that Martha approved your staging! ;)

Susan: Simple is right...I am constantly amazed at the difference a few well chosen simple accessories can do for a room!

Michele:  Spa like yes!...I was ready to light the candles and meditate in there...LOL!

Marci:  I love Martha...still kicking myself that I didn't go see her when she was in Cinci when her Homemaking Handbook was released.

Dane: Okay...I know I did okay when Dane stops by and approves! LOL! :)

Michelle: Hey! I like the open shelving too. Of course, I'm somewhat obsessed by beautiful baskets. I get lost at Home Goods just looking at them thinking what great Spas and organized spaces I could create with them!

Isn't it a wonderful gift that when you see a space you can see the possiblities rather than the awkwardness!  Great job - I too love open shelving/baskets -- was also staging a bathroom w/rolled towels into baskets in a master w/bamboo shelving yesterday!

This room looks fabulous!  Love what you did!  Definitelymagazine picture material.

I wonder though if people without this vision would look at it as something they would always need to be conscious of looking picture perfect.  You know, the ones who just shove things into the cabinets and close the doors to hide the "stuff."  (Yes, I admit I have been guilty of doing this from time to time).

The shelves look GREAT!  Anybody seeing those shelves would love to imagine that they could live that way........or at least dream a little  :-)
