Travelling has become less and less pleasurable - the air journey, that is, not the destination. Packing has also become more complex. What do you pack? How much do you pack? What gets checked and what goes on board?

Before leaving, I struggle to find a proper position on the scale to hold my suitcase to be sure it isn't overweight. I've even switched a couple pounds from checked to carryon when I return with additional stuff. Which doesn't even cover repacking the things one might try to carry on that are now no-no.

A newspaper insert ad from Macy's yesterday showed that someone has this solved: Ricardo Elite Solutions(TM) has two sizes of wheeled luggage that come with a built-in scale. Push the ON button, lift the handle, and look at the LCD readout that combines the weight of the suitcase and its contents.

If anybody's actually tried it, and if, as promised, it survives the travel hazards to repeatedly work well, I'd like to know about it.

Saw this advertised on tv.  We usually travel with only a carry on and wheel backpack.  All allowed as carry on and so convenient.  Of course that means no makeup etc. but you can buy that after you go through security at the shops or upon arrival.
