State of Oregon Flag

Oregon is a great place to live for many reasons. Fortunately, many in the state have adequate health care for their families. For those who don't, there are many resources.

Per the April 1st, 2007 Edition of the Bend Bulletin, here are some of the available options for uninsured families and their children:

Oregon Health Plan-This state insurance program offers OHP Plus and the OHP standard plans. It is paid for through state and federal dollars. Children can qualify based on citizenship and their family income and assets. For more information, call 1-800-527-5772 or on the web at www.oregon.gov/DHS/healthplan.

FHIAP Family Health Insurance Assistance Program-This program is designed to help families who have private health insurance but need help paying their monthly premiums. The program also provides subsidies for private health insurance if families do not have access to a health plan through their employer. For more information, call 1-888-564-9669 or on the web at www.oregon.gov/OPHP/FHIAP/index.shtml

All County Health Departments-All county health departments offer a variety of services, including immunizations, to children without health coverage. Contact your local county health department.

Central Oregon Resources:

Healthy Beginnings-This program offers free screenings for vision, hearing and other health concerns to children of all income levels. For more information, please call 383-6357.
