The good news is that everyone on the Mueller Pioneer list has been worked with and that a few affordable homes are still available.

25% of the total number of houses, apartments and condos at Mueller are to be available for families with lower than average incomes. Here are some of the frequently asked questions about the affordable homes, who is eligible for them, and instructions on how to apply.

How do I qualify for the affordable program at Mueller?

Houses and condos for sale on the affordable program require the purchasers to earn less than 80% of the Median Family Income in the City of Austin. For a 2 person household in 2008 this figure equates to $45,000. The for rent qualifying figure is 60% of the Median Family Income ($34,150 for a 2 person household in 2008).

There are other restrictions in the eligibility requirements such as at least one applicant working a 25 hour week, and the applicant must live in the property.

How do I buy an affordable home at Mueller?

If you think you meet the eligibility requirements, you can chose which builder's homes you are interested in. After choosing a home, the next step is to apply with the builder! The builder's preferred lender will verify your income eligibility.
