One of the Saddest Days of the Year in Manhattan & Around the World by Feng Shui Long Island

This is the one day out of the entire year that is the most difficult for me. Living in New York and loving New York City I am, as SO many others still devastated by the losses of 9/11/2001. Loss of life, of course--many, many wonderful lives and a feeling of loss of Freedom. Since that day when traveling to New York City for a Feng Shui Consultation you can see all the uniforms at Penn Station which is somehow a sight I never get used to.

There are cutbacks now as well on our Security but I have always wondered how safe they can REALLY make New York City. We have power planrs but we do NOT have a no fly zone over them...WHAT? Senator Joe Kennedy has been lobbying for years to get a no fly zone there but he's not been successful.

On the news today it was reported that our Mayor Bloombery was outraged that it is now SEVEN YEARS and there is no permanent Memorial. I am as well but i have to wonder: He's the MAYOR--surely if anyone can get something done it would be him. The miracle that still stand across the street is documented in the following posts I wrote...this is now the Memorial; this precious church that SOMEHOW survived the disaster.

I wil be home tomorrow for the reading of all the names, which takes hours. And I will surely be praying for all the lost souls of that day and for PEACE in our country and around the world. Just IMAGINE....How Nice it would be"To Give PEACE a Chance"

Carole, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Stay safe. It's hard to believe that 7 years have passed!

Hi Carole - i was just doing a post about Canadians that died on 9/11.....I can only imagine what it might be like living there.......:-( and experiencing the memory year after year - on location.

Carole, I still feel the spirits crying out. We need to exercise our restitution to the evil. If we forgive then we should pull out and begin again...otherwise we should act. It's this stagnate calm and lack of getting ahead...or getting anywhere that gets to me. It's too sad for the young men and women we sent to fight for us? My son is home from Iraq and I spoke to him for the first time today for nine months.

It has changed him drastically within. Has it changed our past or our future I ask?

I mourne.

Carole - I can still feel my feet freeze in the middle of the living room when the news broke on the TV. The pictures they were showing had me standing there with tears rolling and my stomach churning. I was stunned, shocked, saddened, mad, scared --- a whole mix of emotions. God bless those that lost their lives, the families that remain and the wonderful folks of NYC for their resolve.

First welcome home to Deb's son and Thank You for serving us!

Carole the names and faces of those lost will be in my memory forever. The year of funerals for our first responders up here was horrific (we have a large population of NY's Finest here). The continued suffering of those who went in for the search and recovery. It is truly a dark day. I will be thinking of you today.

I can't read anymore, I'm as shaken as I was on that day. God Bless all the families and friends who lost their loved ones.

Carole--No matter how many years pass, September 11, 2001 will always be remembered. The clips of the towers falling still make me sad. I can only imagine what it was like for those of you who lived it.

Carole very heart breaking still! Its a wound that will be hard to heal. The million stories of each person wer just to incredible to believe

Carole, I think this is a hard day for many people across the world. NYC lives with the reminders of the lack of the towers in the skyline on a daily basis. It was a day that created such strong memories and emotions that just hearing 9/11 triggers people.

I believe that those of us who live in the Metro NY area feel a very personal sense of loss for all those who perished from the attack. We didn't only lose the workers in the towers, but also those who tried to aid in the rescue. I think that most of us knew at least one person who was killed on that fateful day.

I, too, fear for our safety...after that senseless attack on our soil, I don't think that I'll ever feel safe again...it's almost as if I've been waiting for 'the other shoe to drop' for 7 years. I try not to dwell on it, but I have 3 daughters who all work in Manhattan. I do worry about them...

After 7 years I still feel the loss and tragedy of that day - almost as if it were yesterday. The stories, the pictures, the videos and audios....all are indelibly inscribed in my mind. We lost a very special person in the 1st tower and my niece somehow made it out of that 'war zone' to safety...she ran with the others on a knee that was just rehabilitated after surgery. She didn't stop running until she made it home to her apartment in the West 50's. Since cell phone service was sporadic that day, it was hours before we knew that she was safe. Two of my daughters were working uptown in Manhattan and I was concerned about them and just wanted to get them out of there and home to LI. Getting out of the city was disastrous on that day due to the sheer pandemonium that ensued and no one knew if there would be more attacks.

As I said, we will never forget...

Susan, Thank you, it's a terribly sad day for everyone. I'm sure watching it on TV didn't help but it's in honor of all the wonderful people lost during the tragedy.

Liz, I read your lovely post and knew it had affected Canada as well....It's truly a time when everyone pulls together.

Deb, I am thrilled to hear that your son is home, safe and sound and sorry to leave OUR CHILDREN with these terrors. It has changed the past--and more then that, it has forever changed the future. I mourn as well but I also worry.....about the future and about Our children and Their children.

Carol, I was out that day on an early morning appointment....and heard people just start screaming from what they heard on the radio. My first thought was that I was so FAR from home and I wanted to get my children home.....it was a forever ride and the school was in chaos as well....

Paddy, I am sure it shook you to the core too...and didn't know you had many people there as well. We lost our own Fire Chief, Peter Gancy along with many other Long Islanders who now hold a memorial on Point Lookout---where they could see the smoke and flames that day.

Nancy, When this day comes it brings it all back...here it never went away. You see the changes that have been made in the City and to me, it's so sad.

Elizabeth, What an incredibly difficult day for everyone. And so sad that we don't have a proper memorial after all this time. My concern continues to be with all the amazing people who came in to help and are now sick and not receiving the help they need.

Teri, The sad facts are that unless you own a boat on Long Island, there's no way off....we could never evacuate if we had to. And New York continues to be a number one target---while we have cutbacks in security. I don't understand it all....

Fernando, I'm sure you feel it the way we do, having lived here for so long---and loving Manhattan! It's a different New York City now, forever changed. It took me two years to go downtown, I felt that I couldn't deal with it and it was very, VERY difficult--and still is.

Val, I didn't know your daughters were in the city that day, it must have been a nightmare. I too just wanted to get my children home and thought also that there would be more attacks. I am very disturbed by the cutbacks here on security--New York is still the prime target and if you've been to the Financial district, it's very different....but fact is, we are not safe on Long Island. As you know without a boat there would be no way to get away. I also felt abandoned that day--our president vanished and I thank God for Guiliani, he did alot to restore some kind of balance. That day and the days that followed will always make me think of him as one of the heros.

Carol- This is a sad anniversary, seven year later and it is still taking a toll on many. Today on the news they interviewed a musician who was still having nightmares, he sees giant buildings chasing him.

We will all remember the day. It was a sad day for Americans . We offer our prayers for the families of the victims and pray for peace around the world.

Carole, I am sure we can not even begin to imagine how much this tragedy affected your life personally and the life of your entire city. My son and I were talking about it last night as we watched unfold once again on the History Channel. We prayed for the souls lost and just still can't believe that it happened. Everyone knows someone that knows someone that was affected but for those in the city, it is just incomprehensible I am sure.

Carole: As hard as it was to watch it on the History Channel this Sept. 11, I just could not tear myself away. I remember exactly where I was when it happened and I will never forget. I think this tragedy is on many American minds most of the time throughout the year, but we do take pause on Sept. 11 to quietly reflect, mourn and ultimately hope. Our hearts broke that day and we have never quite been the same but our resolve and courage, especially of all those who lost their lives and gave all they had to help will remain forever in our memory. There are no words to truly express the depth of our heartbreak nor the height of our gratitude. We must keep America strong, united and above all free to honor those who paid the ultimate price. May God continue to bless America.

Jennifer, So many people have lung issues and post traumatic stress from that day..many are now out of work and seeking treatment. It's so sad that they are living this way and many do not have enough health benefits to help them.

Gita, That would be my one true wish....just peace for everyone. We can live in harmony with eachother, we've done it in the past.

Cristal, I know how heartfelt it is all over the world but not more so then in New York. I do go downtown of course but rarely to the site because the energy is still so strong and sad. I am also very upset that there is not a proper memorial for all.

Donna, I watch it too and I am heartbroken as well. To think of what our children are growing up into...the devastating loss of live and all the incredible heros who came from all over to help that are now still suffering. It's almost incomprehensible.
