Planning on attending the Shift tour one day class and thought it may have hit enough cities now to get some feedback if it is worth the day away...

Have the book and am about 1/2 done... good so far but not fantastic.

What do you all say?  Go-No go?

Thanks,

A couple of hours with Gary Keller is always worth it no matter what the topic. He's coming to Las Vegas in November to teach the class. And besides the content, think of it as a great opportunity to network with other agents and pick up a few referrals.

I'm watching KW. It seems as if a lot of their training is open to licensed agents, almost as if it's a recruiting tool.

John,

True Gary is good... if you have the chance go see Dave Jenks... he is actually WAY better...

Daniel,

go to http://www.millionairesystems.com/msys/shifttour.html to learn more or register...

Vickie,

I was an agent with KW for years and they do have great training.  Yes in one since it is a recruiting tool... but NOT how I think you mean.  You will not get a hard sell at the training just a "open your eyes" to what they have to offer...  Go and I promise you will not feel "recruited"

I just ordered my book and it will be here tomorrow. I should have bought it at MegaCamp when I was there, but I was too busy scrambling around trying to keep up with my group. Ok that was a lame excuse.

Tony Dicello is also on the Shift Tour comming to Houston next month. For $15 you get in and a copy of the book. The book was $15 alone. Well worth the price of admission. Im going to start my book when I get it and still attend the tour and donate the book to a fellow agent.

Mark,

I thought it was good.  Any time you can spend a day with successful people is a good day.  You may have a grasp of everything they will cover before you get there but it is always good to hear it again and get re-energized.

If you don't need the motivation or care about meeting others then the following will save you the time:

> Prospect three hours a day every day.

> Slash your expenses TODAY!

> Treat your business like your house is on fire.

Good Luck,

Tim

Tim,

Just finished the book... still say it is good but not fantastic.  I think the MREA book is prob. the best book on real estate available and this just does not stack up.  That said, I am going and taking the whole team... training is almost never a waste of time.  The networking is also an added bonus.

Thanks for the tips

Mark,

I think the book is excellent for the newer group of Realtors that have not lived through market upheaval and are nervous about what to do every day.

It's almost like an insurance policy for all of us and it can't hurt to hear it again if you haven't heard it in a while.

I attended as Gary Keller presented the material and he is fantastic.  My suprise (I'm new to KW) was that Gary got in our faces and really told the truth.  I thought he would be the "good cop" and someone else would play the "bad cop" but it was Gary Keller that really grabbed us by our collars and told the truth about the market and how to handle it.

I thought the book was just ok.  Was hoping for much better.  Lacked substance and I felt like I was being sold.

Bob,

Not sure where you got the "being sold"  I did not see that at all?  KW does get that "wrap" sometimes but I have been to way too many training classes and they just DO NOT do that...

Again, the book is not fantastic... but it is good and worth the read... if I don't like a book i just will not finish it and I read this one in about a week or two just reading in the evenings for awhile each night... easy read and you will get something out of it...

The actual reason I was turned off was the amount of "old-school" principles the book discussed.  I believe in one section it discussed "targeting an audience" and doing things like sponsoring little league teams, and knocking on doors.   Who is the KW audience?  I'd like to see Gary define that first vs. suggesting tactics to employ.  Just seems more rational that way in my mind and that is how I do my business plan.  And, the tactics he's suggesting are antiquated in my view.  What about things like "contact me/text me now buttons" on my listings, and inventory marketing, blogging, etc.  Maybe I missed those.  Agents of the future... e.g. people like you (Mark) and I on AR would relate to those.

Also there was a whole page diagram on how to do an effective open house.  Come on.

I just feel the leader of the brand should today be talking more about technology and the "shift" to the consumer vs. the business/industry.  And, how to reach the defined consumer with today's many media opportunities to do so.

Like I said, the book was ok, I was just disappointed in the lack of relevant content.  Wanna buy my book from me?  Kidding.

Bob,

I hear you... that is part of why I am NOT at KW any longer.  I tried and tried to get higher level training and while there is some... there is SO much BASIC info that they train on.  I went to family reunion several times, went to Mega Agent Camp, regional training, etc.

At the last Family Reunion I went to a mega agent technology class and question was actually asked "where do you go to get your web site address?"  Rather than tell them they were in the wrong room and must live in a cave to have missed all the Go Daddy ads on TV they spent about 5-10 min. talking about buying a url...

I want to be on the leading edge and they do talk about that some... but then in the same class they talk down to the lowest level agents.  While that is good they should just do two different classes, one for new/lower level agents and one for advanced agents.

For once I would just love to walk out of the room and say "WOW I did not know that!"

Thanks Bob, I will sell you mine too... after the class I will have two more copies as well...
