Renovations bring golf course up to par
Condominiums will not be there, but an extensively renovated Cape Coral Executive Golf Course will reopen to its members Saturday.
Mike Hayes, owner and operator of the nine-hole course at 1006 S.E. Fourth Place, decided not to have condos built after hearing some protest from neighboring residents.
Longtime members also appreciate Audrey Hopps, the longtime course manager.
"She does all the handicaps, she does the pairings, she does the winners list," Leitch said. "It wouldn't be the same place without her."
"The shop manager, Audrey, is a tremendous plus," Colter added. "She is friendly with everyone. She's a fantastic ambassador."
Hayes said he plans to have a grand opening for the public Oct. 4.
"I think we did the right thing," he said. "We kept it a place for people to come, and I think they will. The course is in excellent condition and will be very challenging."
Longtime members also approve of Hayes' work at the golf course since he took it over eight years ago.
