Daddy's Girl Update!

So it's been two months now and i'm really starting to realize a couple of things that I need to share.  I have wonderful step son who is now 3 years old.  I meet my beautiful fiancee when Matthew was nine months old so I missed out the glorious and challeging first 9 months.

To say that a new baby hasn't been challenging would be a huge lie. I knew I was in for a big change and that's exactly what it is.

I'd like to offer some Helpful Hints to new parents
  1. Support, Support, Support.  We both have a really hard time leaving the baby, but we both know that we need at least a weekly break to unwind and get our game face back on.  Parent's, friends, are amazing with the help and support that they've given and offered.  Don't be afraid to ask for help it's an absolute neccessity to refresh you for the tough job at hand.
  2.  Don't beat yourself up.  I caught myself doing this multiple times and so has Candi.  Aubrey seems to really enjoy crying/screaming and we are always worried about her.  When she doesn't cooperate it can really be challeging and you'll think to yourself what am I doing wrong all the time.  This is the hardest thing emotionally that i've had to overcome.  I try to constantly remind myself about the positive's that come from having a new baby and keep my attitude as positive as I can.  Don't take me for being tough i've broken down in tears a couple of times I know when I go through these trials and tribulations that i'm going through them for a reason.  To grow, learn, and become a better person and parent.
  3. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate With all of this new stress of waking up at odd hours and constantly being needed can put stress on a relationship.  If you start to feel overwhelmed and just have the blues talk it out before it gets worse.  We both are constantly working on our communication which is helping a ton in this ever stressful process.  It's amazing to see how a relationship can grow through these new trials and tribulations if you handle it be before it becomes an issue.
  4. Online Support Groups If you google any issue your having with your child your going to come across blogs and support forums. There is so much helpful information at your finger tips go out and dive in.  When you're having problems you can believe other people are too.  Having the ability to ask questions and just read conversations about these issues will help solidify that you shouldn't be beating yourself up.  Everyone share's ideas and experiences.  If your ever feeling the blue's or just have question I strongly suggest surfing the web and talking with other parents  you'll find the support amazingly comforting.
If you haven't already seen the beautiful baby Aubrey you can see her here.

If you ever need someone to talk to feel free to email me or call me i'm more than happy to talk about these new and exciting times.

Congratulations on your new little girl.  It is an amazing time.  I have two sons - one who is almost four years old and the other who is almost nine months.  I am enjoying the baby time more this time around as I have less stress and more understanding of what I am supposed to be doing.  Have fun - it is a great time.
