Dear Real Estate Diary,

Today is September 11, 2008 - the 7th anniversary of 9-11.  Many of us that live in Texas are watching Lake Somerville SunsetHurricane Ike's path.  It appears that Ike, which is almost as big as Texas itself, may hit Galveston.  I find myself worrying about my friends and fellow bloggers, Deb, Marchel, Liz and my sister.

Marchel, Liz, and my sister live in the Houston area.  They are likely to deal with flooding and some wind damage.   Deb lives North East of Houston, in an area surrounded by pine trees.   With strong winds, those trees tend to fall over and knock out power lines.  In addition, Deb's area is likely to be hit by tornadoes.   My prayers are with Deb, because her husband wants to stay and ride out the storm.

In the Bryan College Station area, we are expecting rain and winds.  For once in my life, I haven't Sunset at Overlook Park at Lake Somervilleprocrastinated.

I've already removed my real estate signs from my seller's houses.  I don't want them to become flying projectiles.  The truck is full of gas.  I have plenty of water, oil lamps, non-perishable food, horse feed and wood shavings.  I also have a phone that will still work in the event electricity goes out.  I am prepared as I can be.

So, what did I do this evening?  I enjoyed a beautiful sunset out at Lake Somerville from Overlook Park.

What about you, how did you spend 9-11-2008?

As I watched the sun set, I realized how quickly things in life come and go.

May you enjoy each and every moment that you have been blessed with.

Hey sweetie. I love your photographs. I'm going to be thinking about all of my TX buddies. I was chatting with Melody and Amanda earlier and they were making really funny jokes about hunkering down for Ike. I know how serious this can be and will keep you all in my prayers. I loved your post. Sondra, please keep us up to date if you can so we know that you are okay. Love, C.

I was also thinking about some of my friends who are closer to the coast than we are.  I know that Liz has a lake house that somewhere closer to central Texas, so my guess is that she is there now.  We called my in-laws today to see if they want to come stay with us for a few days.

Sondra - Gorgeous photos and I really like the one where the people are sitting on the bench, the sun-rays coming through the clouds are unbelievable. You know what they say about rays shining threw the clouds. That is another way of God expressing himself!

Sondra, you take such GREAT pictures. There is that expression the calm before the storm. I think your peaceful sunset photos around Lake Somerville captured that moment. I in particular like the one with the picnic table as it seems you could just sit there and have a conversation with a special one. Be safe yourself with the storm and I will hope for the best with all the others. 9/11 was a day where I read many tribute posts here and saw many American flags at half staff as I drove around. Let us all know you are ok. I care about you.

I'm available to my Clients 24/7, so I spent yesterday working. I'm watching some 9/11 videos right now on the History Channel that I have not seen before.

Hi Sondra, I enjoyed your sunset photos and remember that feeling of the 'calm before the storm' from my years living in Florida.  There's nothing like a beautiful sunset!  I look forward to your hurricane updates.

Hi Sondra.  Beautiful pictures.  I spent a rainy day at the beach reflecting on life, among other things.    Be safe.

I am praying for ALL of YOU guys in Texas! God is bigger than this storm. Those pictures must be where the phrase...'the calm before the storm' came from. Could it be more peaceful? God bless you, my friend!

Yesterday oN 9-11  I thought a lot about what we did on that day. We all were glued to the TV in our office and were dumbfounded.

My wife and I still wear the "Remember 9-11" decals on our vehicles.  It sadly seems so many have forgotten.

Trey, I remember doing the same thing as you - being glued to the TV.  I hope your electricty stays on today.

Elizabeth, thank you!  It sounds like there are a lot of people that need our prayers due to the weather.

Kara, it is always nice to be able to have time to refect.

Susie, thanks for stopping by and for the compliment on my pictures.  I was able to get to the barn to feed my horse, Thriller.  So, all is well.  (My family is fine also.)

Gary, I liked the picnic table myself.  Thank you for your kind comments.

I was flying back from the TAR convention in San Antonio.  I didn't really like the idea of flying on 9-11 but everything went smoothly on Southwest.
