Chris,

Looks like a great supply of plants.  Wish I lived closer.

Chris, I would highly recommend using a professional to install new landscaping to anyone who is considering it.

We had a pro design a landscaping plan after we built our swimming pool and the results are incredible. It did not cost as much as you might think and they knew exactly what plants do well together and in your part of the US.

We probably spent (wasted) way more money on our last house's landscaping replacing all the plants that we killed.

Ann- There are tons of plants, and I don't even have half of them fit into these 2 photos. They have a giant section of annuals (as everything pictured is from the tree, shrub, and perrenial sections) as well :-D.

Lara- Yes, so many people think the price is going to be rediculously high, but for the most part they are way off. Many projects can be completed in the $500-1500 range depending on size, amount/ type of plants and the wide range of materials (ie... retaining wall bricks instead of other landscape edgings, rocks instead of mulch, addition of a water feature, etc.).

The nursery I use actually takes alot of that guess work out of landscaping for us all to make it easier on the homeowners too, as they bring in their plants during the best planting period for each plant, and pretty much everything has directions as far as sun/shade, and watering. They also carry an excellent garauntee, that if for any reason a plant, tree, or shrub dies within 1,3, or 5 years depending on the plant they will replace it free, where many others are 30-90 days.... In 4 years or working with them I have never had to take a plant back though :-D

Yes, unfortunately many will spend more money on replacing plants that are not good for their area, even just the area of their landscaping as many plants require certain mounts of sun or shade, or don't know how to properly care for... a good professional can take the guess work out of all that saving you not only alot of time, but money.

Ann- We get everything from a local nursery, we do not directly carry the plants as we are a smaller company, and theres no way I could keep track of this vast of an assortment. However they do not ship goods either, and honestly I wouldn't recommend getting plants shiped like that as different plants have different requirements that may not survive well in other areas without alot of special care. I would try to find a good nursery in your area that has a knowledgable staff to help you with your plant selections :-D

Chris - When is the best time to add landscaping in the fall, is it before the first freeze? When is the best time to move existing landscaping? Wish we had great nurserys here!

Raylene- The best time for Fall landscaping is generally anytime before the 1st freeze as it allows the new plants to "get settled in, and adjust" as a freeze can easily kill many plants that aren't adjusted. It is also very important to make sure the roots are fully into the ground and protected as a freeze to exposed roots is an almost garaunteed fate of many new plants.

As for moving an existing landscape it actually depends on the plants or trees, as some plants/ trees are not able to be moved/ transplanted during certain times for various reasons.... Blue Spruces and a few other pines are good examples, and generally should not be moved between May and July. If you plan on moving an existing landscape it is best to do some research with nurseries or online to find out what everything is and when it can/ cannot be moved.

Yeah while we have quite a few different nurseries and even Home Depot & Lowes carry different plants and trees we really only have 2 (3 if you count the one that owns 2 locations) that are excellent and highly knowledgable. Like many other things anymore a great nursery is hard to find, but when you do its a beautiful thing :-D

Hey Chris,

Okay, here you go.  How large to mums get and how far apart should you space them?

Thank you,

Ann
