facebookWhen I'm teaching a class on social networking to real estate agents, I am often asked "what's the point"?  Well, with Zolve, Linkedin and ActiveRain, the answer is pretty obvious.  But, what about Facebook?  Can using Facebook really benefit the agent?

The answer is YES!

Here is how......

1.  Feed your blog posts to Facebook - keep your friends and clients updated on what you are doing and thinking about.

2.  Become a "friend" to everyone you went to high school and college with - they are the ones who know you, yet probably don't know that you now sell real estate.

3.  Become a "friend" to your former clients.  This is a great way to keep up with what is going on in their lives.

4.  You can add a listing feed to your Facebook wall as well as a separate page for just real estate.

5.  Each day you get a list of your friend's birthdays - what a great excuse to make contact!

Tina - Excellent list of the unique benefits of Facebook. Simple things like the birthday reminder actually makes a big difference. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoy facebook, but so many friendship requests, if they would just take a few key strokes and tell me how they knew me, which app to you like best for the blogfeed. I think I am using them all and it is a little messy so I was thinking of not doing all but one.

hi Tina, re "Become a "friend" to everyone you went to high school and college with - they are the ones who know you, yet probably don't know that you now sell real estate"...

Absolutely, no matter what biz we're in, we never really know where our next client will come from. Having a wide circle of friends as possible just opens up so many possibilities!

I wasn't aware one could do that.  I'll have to give it a try because right now, Facebook has been kind of ignored by me.

I am on Facebook as well.  I want everyone to know what I do.  I have so much I yet want to do, with Internet networking and marketing.  Thanks for the encouragement.

I am with L&F as well!  I have spoke to people up here thinking of VA Beach.

I will keep you in mind.

I just joined facebook and also thought what am I doing this for I already have enough on my plate.  Then all of the sudden I had two requests for friends, the loan officer that I use for all of my personal loans and someone I know from NY.  Very cool.  I definitely need to spend more time on it.

Thanks for the reminder on this.  I still have about 8 friends that I need to confirm who have contacted me, but have been putting it off because of being too busy...

My general manager uses a Facebook group to solicit information from real estate professionals in other areas that she then rolls up into community blog posts (with appropriate credit of cource to the sources).  It's kinda neat how people join her group just to contribute.
