Write good contentWriting Blogging is hard work, for those who take the task seriously. Writing done right can be energizing and rewarding .  Anyone can throw up a post of words, copy a topic over and over again, to earn points or gain Google Juice.

Maya Angelou said, "The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart."

Freidrich Nietsche said, "Of all writings I love only that which is written with blood. Write with blood: and you will discover that blood is spirit."

Anais Nin, "We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospection".

There are some very good writers here on Activerain.  There are some..................

Can we say this about blogging, "The quality of your work, in the long run, is the deciding factor on how much your services are valued by the world." Orison Swett  Marde

John Jakes, one of my favorite authors, (North and South) said the following two things, "They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel."

"Be yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through every sentence you write, every piece you finish."

Write from the heartIf we can write from the heart, tell our stories, be authentic we have done well.  It has been said so many times before that I hated to write this, but some stuff has been bugging me, so there I said it again.

No actually I didn't, I let these famous writers say it.

Oh Missy...could you have written something more dear to my heart? "Of all writings I love only that which is written with blood. Write with blood: and you will discover that blood is spirit." How am I just now finding that quote? That is amazing! And...you know...I was thinking about this earlier today...even when you do localism posts...you can write with passion. The secret is drawing the writer into our souls...not keeping them outside on the porch. LOVE IT!! GBU, Missy!

Hi Missy,

Great quotes.

I have to admit that I have been surprised by how some of what I read on AR seems so cold and impersonal.  I ran across the blog of a colleague here who was simply posting press releases and called him to talk about it, trying to understand why he would do it.  I understand seo issues, but when your blog post comes up in a search it gets read and the tone is how the reader perceives you.

Just like anything, if blogging is worth doing it should be worth doing right!

Thanks for the reminder.

Missy, Some great quotes you have used to drive your point through. I love to read more than I love to write because I care about the impression I leave on my readers.

Missy,

You are one of the writers that writes with passion and soul! I think everyone here and (I am sure) your client base feels that they know you personally!  (And like you:) I agree about the blogs that go up that seem meaningless and sometimes I think to myself, I could have had a zillion points by now if I wrote that way. I actually love to write but as you say, blogging is hard work, and time consuming if you are to do it correctly. Hopefully the bloggers you are trying to reach will read this.

Missy,

All those quoted authors are great. well maybe except Nietzche, but what came from your heart and wisdom is most important!!! Thanks,   Fran

Pretty much says it all, Missy. My father used to tell me that whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability. If you are a ditch digger, by god, be the best damn ditch digger there is. Writing is no different. After all, is there anything more intimate and reflective than the very words we choose to express ourselves amongst a network of thousands? Some are born with more talent than others, but certainly with no more to say than the next guy. It's up to that next guy to bust his tail to be the best damn literary ditch digger that he can be, regardless of the perceived disadvantage. Great post, Missy.

I really like the Maya Angelou quote. Now the challenge will be to convert that to writing about real estate. I need to add more 'heart' to the final message.

Boy did I get blasted as a newbie here when I blogged on how poor some of the writing was.  I noted that this was a place for our peers but also the public - what sort of impression would poor writing leave of a person's professionalism?  My favorite comment on that early blog was, "I don't like your tone."  Oh well, I guess I was writing with blood - it certainly curdled it in some!  Put your heart into it, yes, anyone can get statistics on their own.
