We'll I just got back from the weekend at a lakeside cabin out in Omak, WA.  It was a fun trip, spent a lot of time hanging out with friends, paddling around the lake, and best of all not even thinking about work.

Almost as soon as I unpacked the car I was online to see what happened on the network.  It seems things didn't exactly die down over the holiday as predicted.  Luckily Ben, did a good job holding down the fort.  Lots of discussion of a spammer hitting ActiveRain, people getting points for more than 3 blog posts in a day, copyrighted material being posted, and of course the race for 3rd place :)

To comment on the first couple items:

Spammer: It's unfortunate that this happened, we had put a bunch of things in place to try and prevent this but we'll evaluate to see if we can do more.

People getting points for more than 3 posts:  This restriction was removed several weeks ago when we had originally gone to a manual scoring system and we didn't put it back in place when we switched back to a more automated one.  We'll probably put it back, but it should be noted that in most cases members who are posting more than 3 times in a day are receiving less points per post under the new system, due to lower post quality.  While posts get 200 points initially it may take a day or two for the points to move up or down because of the factors involved.

Copyrighted material: A number of posts were removed and a few new members received warnings.

Matt, you should wear my T-Shirt for sure....Sara has already purchased 14 shirts for herself, in order to make it look like she has more friends than she really does....Its really just her and maureen with 7 shirts a piece on, Like "Look at us, Could we be wearing any more shirts"

Glad you had a nice weekend.

We natives were restless...so stayed up all weekend blogging. NOT!

And, yes, there should definitely be a spammer's hell with so many negative points that he could never climb out!

Welcome back Matt.  It was a very exciting weekend on the network.  I wont tell JP that you called me for one of the Team Lipnitz t-shirts.

Hope you had a great vacation.  It sounds like it was wonderful.

Hey Matt,

Happy you had a good vacation...I think it helps you get even more focused when you take some time away. Thanks for addressing the issues above!

Hi Matt...waiting to hear the next good idea from you!

We are starting to see a pick up here in the Boston area...with that good news a new 100 unit  upscale building is going to auction in October!  The market is very shaky!  Hope all is well...
