day after ... What Hurricane IKE looks like to me in HOUSTON & The Woodlands, TEXAS

By

THANK YOU so much everyone for your prayers and concern ... I really appreciate all the comments you have sent!

(pictures the day before it hit ... HERE)

Ike hit about midnight last night and it is still raining at 2PM.  We do not have electricity but I do have wireless connection and a battery on my laptop so I thought I would give an update.

I looked out the front door and saw a tree had fallen on the neighbors house across the street:

Lots of water in the streets:

Took a drive to see the damage and a tree had fallen across the entrance to the subdivision:

The water is so deep there was a wave as we drove along.

We went around the block and then went home.

We have a generator and 20 gallons of gas ... I think we are good for a few days.

I'm quite fortunate being in the Woodlands,  27 miles North of Houston but I know that there are other area's that have been severely affected by this!

Thanks again!

Pippa, I guess compared to the areas south of you, you are very lucky.  It is amazing how much damage you had considering how far you are from the coast.  I'm glad you are okay!

Pippa, we live in Imperial Oaks and went to Austin to scape from Ike. I spoke with one of my neibors this afternoon. He told me there were not major damage, just out of electriciy and few trees down. The Woodlands and Spring areas were so fortunate even Ike passed so closed.

Thank you for taking the time to inform the comunity.

Pippa as a survivor of Hurricanes Charlie, Francis, and Jeanne in 2004 I know what you are going through.  At least you are well prepared.  Kind of makes you appreciate what our Pioneering ancestors felt.  Stay Safe, dry and wth your loved ones.  You are in our thoughts!

We live in the new subdivision, Creekside Park, and were wondering what kind of damage to expect.  We're up in Dallas now but are anxious to find out how our house stood up to the hurricane.  Thanks for the pictures and info.

It is good to hear from you!  I enjoyed your picture reporting in your neighborhood....what a mess, but thank goodness you didn't get the worst of it.

Take care!

Hi Pippa,

I've been trying to get any information on the woodlands and when electricity might come back on. My family and i live in Cochran's crossing and have left to stay with family in katy that by a miracle of God have power. I saw that they have post poned school for Monday and Tuesday but I am having a hard time believing that the kids would go without electricity anywhere, especially at home. Is there a site that you are using that could give me a littlemore info? I'm glad that you and your family are fine. Hope to hear from someone soon.
