Plop Plop Fizz Fizz....What a Clean Toilet It Is!

You mother in law is coming over and....darn, forgot to pick up more toilet bowl cleaner. If you have Alka Seltzer in the medicine cabinet, just plop in a couple of tablets, let sit twenty minutes, and flush. If the toilet is really bad, here is another way. Shut off the water valve to the toilet and flush so that most of the water drains out of the bowl. Replace the water in the bowl with hot water and place 6 - 8 tablets in. Let it sit for 30 minutes and brush throughly with toilet brush. I tried this once when company was on their way over and worked pretty good although would be more expensive that regular bowl cleaner.

Hi Kent,

Never heard about Alka Seltzer in toilets before, but it kinda makes sense....I wonder if those tablets that clean false teeth would be as effective?

I'll tell you what I use - and it cleans the toilet better than any product I have ever tried (and most people already have it in their house!) and that is electric dishwater detergent...any kind (no brand in particular).  It makes the bowl smell awesome as well!

I make it a habit to not let the toilets get too tarnished so my clean ups are pretty quick.
