Clay Jackson, a real estate agent with Prudential Slater James River was recently selected by Maytag to be the new face for their under worked repair division.
Chosen from hundreds of hopefuls, Jackson, a third generation Realtor had what Maytag was looking for - a symbol of dependability and reliability. The candidate also had to be "energetic, young-at-heart, outgoing, and trustworthy". Pretty much what home buyers are looking for in an agent.
Maytag ran an integrated marketing and advertising campaign to promote the contest to select the next spokesperson. Like real estate agents promoting themselves and their listings, Maytag used traditional advertising methods like print media and bus stop ads, as well as taking advantage of new media opportunities.
They have a really nice branded web site where you can watch audition tapes and Meet the New Guy. Maytag also created a YouTube Channel to promote the contest, and pumped in audition tapes, a great example of using what you've got on different platforms.
