The thought of meeting ladies whom I've met on active rain compelled me to go to Staging Expo in Portland on Saturday.  I was about to make reservations on Amtrack but then my husband (ANGEL that he is) decided to drive me down to Wilsonville Oregon from Seattle for the day.  Finally I could put face to name of dynamic members of the industry.  I was surprised by the enormous numbers of attendees and the high quality of the exhibits with exciting products.  The guest speakers were knowledgeable, the food was great and most important of all, all designations mingled happily.

But the best was yet to come.  Prizes were being drawn and my husband is now having his Sarurday afternoon nap on one of the most comfy sofas at Mastercraft Furniture Company.  The next thing, out comes the owner carrying this most amazing leather chair with the announcement that I'm the winner.!!!

OMG what a surprise.  What an amazing prize!! The most comfortable and stylish chair with leather is as soft as butter.  Thankfully I didn't come by train, where would I have put my new chair.  What is more, it's the exact same color as my headboard and so it now has pride of place in our bedroom.

A big thanks to all.

I've spent many of my years in the industry as a furniture and accessory buyer and designer.  I wanted to make special mention of fabulous quality being manufactured at Mastercraft Furmiture Company.  Far too much of the furniture in this industry is made in Asia.  We all need to promote and support American manufacture and buy locally made product.

Andy,

It was a great event, for sure! I am sorry that I didn't have the opportunity to say hello to you, but I am glad that you came all the way from Seattle and won such a nice prize. I was wondering if you came on the bus and just how you would get that chair home!

Andy -- Lucky you!  There were lots of folks present who would have loved that chair -- glad to hear it's found a good home already (in your bedroom).  Kathy Alexander and I were saying, how is someone from WA going to get that chair back home??  Smart lady to bring your husband and car!

Sounds like that chair was destine to be yours.  Everything from your husband driving you to the spot in your bedroom just waiting for that very acquisition.  Glad the event was such a success.  Enjoy!

Andy - I am with you 100%. Monty the owner has to be the most supportive manufacturer in our business. He will ship to us here in California and I am going to put my items up for sale on my virtual store to make room for all of his product. I could not believe the prices and the quality.  I am so excited that you won that great chair...jealous, but excited!

It was great to meet you and thank you so much for traveling so far to attend our event. We just loved meeting you and the rest of the Staging community of the Pacific Northwest. We feel like we know them all now and we are looking forward to coming back next year to do it again! Kym

Nice score!

I agree, far too much is made in asia and is just not built to last.

Andy so glad you blogged about your experience. What a great prize too! I love hearing how everyone mingled happily - it's what our industry needs. It sounds like the West Coast has got it together in terms of unity and collaboration. Talk you you soon!

Wow Andy!  Sounds like you really scored!  That's one of the cool things about these expos... each sponsor provides raffle prizes.  Wish I could have been there, but I will make it a priority to attend next year's!

Yes Andy -- I too was one of the envious ones when they called your name for that beautiful chair!  It was a wonderful event!

I so appreciate your voicing your opinion about buying products created within the United States.  With so much talk of "going green" we need to remember to provide this quality and affordable option to the homeowners who value our opinions -- we are the Experts!

I, too, thoroughly enjoyed the expo. It was especially important for me to see other people who take their businesses seriously and are true professionals.  I have a lot to learn in this business, and the expo introduced me to so many resources.  Thanks to everyone who is willing to share.

Andy, I love the shoes you wore that day!

Andy,

What a great lineup of presenters and topics at the Expo. Kudos to Christine and Kym and Mary and Terylynn. I found the material presented to be on target for staging industry today and it had great info for all levels of staging experience. Plus the vendors were many and varied, and the food was FAB. What more could anybody want from a professional learning opportunity? Winning a big huge piece of furniture doorprize was a nice finish for ANDY!  Not the kind of thing you can tuck under your arm ! I am sure glad your husband wanted to take a drive that day!

Thanks -  the shoes are by Ed Hardy - he's a tatoo artist very popular with the teenagers and being the mother of teenage boys I could't help but get excited by the shoes.

And now my intention is to put my limited technical abitlities to the test and post a photograph of my new chair, next to my headboard - simply to show you all the amazing match.  This prize was meant to be!!! Stay tuned........
