Highland Park Hopkinton MassachusettsHighland Park is one of Hopkinton's top luxury neighborhoods. In fact, Highland Park has to be right up there with with some of the most popular subdivisions in all of Metrowest Massachusetts.

The Streets in this Hopkinton hot spot consist of Stoneybrook Road, Edgehill Road, Wedgewood Drive, Bridgeton Way, Riverbend Road, and Singletary Way.

Highland Park was built in phases with the 1st part of the subdivision being built in the late 1980's. The main entrance to the subdivision is off of Saddle Hill Road. Highland Park abutts the Hopkinton Country Club golf course.

The value of the homes in Highland Park neighborhood range from around the Mid 600's all the way up to a Million plus as of July 2009.

Stoneybrook Road and Edgehill Road were the 1st Streets to be built. The housing on these two roads varies tremendously. One of the reasons behind this is that when Highland Park was 1st developed lots were sold by the Developer, Ken Marsters, to multiple builders. Traditionally many of the neighborhoods in the area have one builder which in some cases can make a neighborhood feel too rigid. The homes on these Hopkinton streets are anything but rigid. There are many styles including traditional colonial, Cape, French Provincial, Southern style, Tudor, and Farmers colonial. The size of these homes range from 2800 square feet all the way up to 4000 plus. The minimum lot size in the 1st phase on these street was 60,000 square feet.                                Wedgewood Drive Highland Park Hopkinton

The start of Wedgewood Road was the next phase to be completed in Highland Park. Throughout the mid 1990's to the early 2000's, these homes were built along with the three cul-de-sacs. It was at this point that the majority of the homes built in this subdivision were done by Hallmark properties.

Hallmark is a Hopkinton based firm that has an excellent reputation as a quality innovative builder. At the time these homes were built, Hallmark consisted of partners Ron Roux and Ed Tarca, who built all the properties together. Ron and Ed are no longer partners and have gone their separate ways.

The caliber of the homes along Wedgewood drive as well as the cul-de-sacs on Bridgeton, Riverbend, and Singletary are a step above the previous homes built in this neighborhood. Many of the homes have intricate roof lines as well as the use of brick, stone, and stucco.

Bridgeton Way Highland Park Hopkinton

The inside of these homes are spectacular. Ron Roux and Ed Tarca really stepped up the level of craftsmanship of the typical home being built in the area.

Finely crafted custom kitchens and extensive wood woodwork are Hallmarks of these homes. From the multi piece crown moldings, to the coffered and treyed ceilings, to the custom built-ins, these homes are dynamic, interesting, and loaded with detail.

The interior of these homes also have the typical neo classical design features including the use of columns to seperate rooms as well as grand two story volume spaces in the entry foyers and family rooms.

The minimum lot size in the Wedgewood drive area of the subdivision was reduced to an acre or a minimum of 43,560 square feet. In return for the reduction in lot size, this phase of the development included "open space" that is maintained via a home owners association that was formed.

There is one more phase left in Highland Park. There will be an additional 26 homes built. The road has been cut in but construction has not yet started. Most expect the prices to start over a million dollars for a new home.                                                                                                                                       Bridgeton Way Highland Park Hopkinton

Highland Park is one of my favorite Hopkinton neighborhoods for a number of reasons. You will not find the duplication of a homes exterior in this neighborhood. Unlike the Hopkinton Highlands, which is an abutting neighborhood, all of the Highland Park homes are unique. The neighborhood also has some excellent protective covenants which allow for great continuity. For example all the mail boxes are identical and the exterior paint color needs to be approved. You won't find any PURPLE COWS here.

You can enter the back side of the neighborhood off of Cedar Street Extension which connects to Route 85. The location of Highland Park is excellent for commuting as the MBTA is only a mile away and you can access the MASS Pike via route 9 very easily.

For those interested in recreation the entrance to the Hopkinton State Park is less than a mile away.

If your considering relocating to Hopkinton make sure you take a look at Highland Park and discover why this neighborhood ranks among the very best.

Bill, minimum lot sizes of an acre?  We just don't have the land to do that - it sounds like Highland Park is a real gem!

Very well-organized material, Bill. I babysat my way through college (tuition was cheaper back then!) with most of my jobs being in a beautiful area, also named Highland Park. I always associate this name with incredibly beautiful homes, and it's evidently an incredible place to live in your area...From now on, I'll also be associating HIGHLAND PARK with Hopkington Real Estate. Sounds Heavenly!
