Do You Have Talent, Skill, or Magical Pink Hair?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Wizard Troll DollIn assessing someone practicing their craft look around you as well as make note of yourself. For real estate purposes, think Realtor, Stager, Inspector, Loan Originator, Title Officer, or Appraiser for example. What do you see in THEM and YOU?

DO YOU HAVE TALENT, SKILL, OR MAGIC?

Talent, is the raw form. Yes you are in the right industry. Say like you are good at numbers doing CPA work. Your background is interior design and you are trying Staging. You like people, come from teaching, and this is your first year in Real Estate. But you haven't proven anything to your clients or yourself (YET).

Skill, you are practicing. Some doctors are like this for years. In real estate you have more transactions. You pick up designations. You do not cringe with every question. You love your work. You are competent. You know how to climb up in the attic as an inspector. With Stagers you know where to buy the matching pieces and from which discount stores. As a lender you know you know which brokers to work with.

Then there are the "Magical", people. This is where you want to ultimately be. You are the Master. You may even have pink hair and be thought of as a sorcerer in your office.

Those that are Magic are the professional's professional. Even your peers come to you for answers. You have more referrals than you need. A key term to describe for either YOU or those wanting to hire you are that you are someone who is THRIVING in what they are doing. You are the brain surgeon, the Dr. House, among mere mortal physicians.

There really is no magic in being the Magic one. Yes you do need to go through stages of growth with talent and skill, but your love for what you do, your persistence in doing the hard work and focus and systems and people you have built around you pays off. You are smart, have high integrity, and have great respect for everyone. I'm probably describing you, no??

If not, don't worry, you can get there. Trust me, people will remember you, because you will stand out. Pink haired ones always do!!

No pink hair here, but I have found that I'm extremely comfortable in my profession. Transitioning from interior design to real estate was actually a lot smoother than I would have ever imagined. It was very natural. After six years of real estate...I feel sometimes like I'm running on auto-pilot.

I really love the way you approached this post. GBU!!

Well I strive to attain that level of mastery and respect, but put a hold on the pink hair please.

Gary I think I am in trouble without any hair. Maybe I can just paint my head pink?

Love your toll doll-I have a pair of pilgrim tolls but right now I can't find them to take a photo of them and share them with you!!  You are certainly magical Gary!  Many of us here on AR eagerly await your daily posts to learn from you!!

Carole: If ANYONE is magical it is YOU with or without pink hair!!

Hi Elaine: I had several of those Troll dolls too!!

Lynn: Lots of magic here including YOU.

Kristin: Purple is GOOD. I'm ok with purple!!

Kathy: Think if all us Rainers had to dye our hair pink to join. We would be a weird 109,000 member cult. But it sure would be fun! It already is without the pink.

Sherry: Those pictures and colors are awesome. Always be yourself, unless today you want blue hair.

Valerie: In your 20's? What was that like three years ago?? : )

William: I'm cool with orange. Go for it.

Gail: Love the panther!!! Thanks.

Elizabeth Weintraub:I love that housekeeper story and then the new crew. You have some of the best stories around.

Don: We've got to get that photo of Don with the pink hair when that day arrives and post it all over the Internet. It will be great.

Elizabeth Nieves: If you are up to auto-pilot you've reached the pink stage.

Carol: Nothing wrong with luck. I see you are "naturally" magical.

Michael: Perhaps a different color for you. Glad you are at that mastery stage.

Mara: This must be like the trick with the invisible ink. Cool.

Bill: A pink head will work.  : )

Cathy: You'll find those dolls some day and remember this post. Thanks for your kind words.

I may have misplaced my magic wand but if I try hard enough I can wiggle my nose and make quarters come out of kids ears.  That counts, right?

Gary:  My hair is red so maybe I should lighten it just a little :-)   I think this post is so true and there's nothing better when we finally get to that magical place.  Seems like everything just falls right into place and what a great feeling to finally hit our stride.

Wow, Gary--another introspective piece!  I wanna be all three?  Can I?  Can I?!  We have to remember 'the basics' in everyday practice, teach our 'talents' to others newer to the business then we, and shine when we deal with incredibly difficult transactions, showing the pink 'roots' (and I LOVE pink by-the-way)!  You always give us great thoughts and something to take back to our mentees and it is MUCH appreciated, Gary!

Gary, excellent post!

There is no magic pill that we can all just swallow and be successfull.

It takes hard work, training, and lots of experience added to talent.

I know, I know, how much is the pink hair dye again?

Liz: I like the playground feel. I'll get some more sand. Seems like everyone is taking some with them when they leave for the day : )

Jesse: You work magic with kids (and puppies) Jesse.

Gita: Of course with the magic of modern medicine (chemicals) was that grey away and make it"Pink.

Trunda: You're almost to magical. That's good.

Donna: It's great to know you are hitting on all cylinders. Your red hair is fine. Pink might scare off the clients :)

Eric: Great ME! I think that word means something like presto change and fast forwards you to magical status Eric. You already are with Photoshop : )

Debe: We probably are all three and different things we do, but what we were born to do we need to be magical. You be the teacher Debe. You know so much and share so very well.

Lara: Hard work is a great point. You can't skip that to get to the pink hair. Unless you find the dye first : )

Hair has been falling out for years. I tell my clients that my bald head gives me special power of negotiation and insights into the future of real estate. I works. Maybe I will dye the remainder of my hair soon. Any edge is worth exploring!

Mark: You are in good stead with the ladies my friend. They all say bald is sexy. Maybe I should shave my head and paint it pink to get the best of all worlds  : )

Laura: Pink is the next step past blonde. Wow, if all women had their hair pink, that would sure be a shock for a lot of the men they hang with LOL.

Hi Pat: So I have pink roots? Maybe it needs to grow out. If you look at Eric's picture above I guess that is me in full blossom pink. Maybe I am like a perennial flower and it comes out in the Fall : ) Sorry about not getting a reply comment earlier. I read your original thought, just didn't get back to it.

Pat: Great observation about time. The reply to comments easily can take more time than writing the post, hence if you ever write too many that people enjoy you might fall behind. We all have only so much time for the conversation with all the other things in life. I do appreciate the thoroughness you apply to your thoughts. One of the very best at it.
