What!!I have to share my closet

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Ft Myers & The Islands

Three years ago my  husband and partner in business and I decided that we loved North Carolina.  We loved it sooo much that we decided to make this our future home and we opened an office.  Now in the beginning I went back and forth to my Florida home and my real estate business there. We thought that it would be a few months but no more than a year.  Unfortunately it hasn't worked out that way. Kevin used to be able to come here about every 4 weeks, fly in stay a few days, a week and back to our Florida bussiness.  What began as a little time apart has now reached 3 years, with the last year living in two totaly different states.  As my new market began a slow down his business sky rocketed to such a point he couldn't get home to NC very much.

But finally his business went under contract and in a few weeks it closes. Yeah..my honey do will be back. So let me tell you some of the things I really missed;

When it was snowing, 10 degrees outside, and my car doors were iced shut...I missed him

When I stood in the snow and pumped gas...I missed him

When on Tuesday nights I dragged the garbage cans out, raining, snowing or what ...I missed him

When my car wouldn't start...I missed him

When my check book didn't balance...I missed him

But alas, he will be here soon, for good and now I have to share my vanity, my closet, my big bed (well that is actually a real plus) my closet, oh I said that, my office, . but the good news is I get to share, with him and after 21 years I am still looking forward to spending time with my hubbie.  For those contemplating living in 2 different states , I will share with you that communication, trust and a secure relationship is key.  I can't wait to be a family again.  It has been a long tough year here and not having my life partner has made it even harder. The worst part is that you have to share your closet!! The best part is you still love him after 21 years!!! Kudos to both of you and much success!

Congratulations on making your long distance relationship/marriage work. It probably caused you to make more of an effort and not fall into a rut that is so easy for us married couples to do.

I am contemplating that move for next year. My partner and I are thinking of moving to Charlotte from PA. My business is in NYC. If I am still doing well we have decided that we would sell our home, move to Charlotte and I would acquire an apartment in NYC. I would give up my car and fly back and forth to NC. I am glad to hear although tough at times that it worked out for you. I know it is possible now that I read your blog! We've been together for 10 years so our relationship is strong. Glad you survived it and your husband is finally coming home! It will be hard to be away from each other but we'll make it work. The idea of giving up my car stinks too!! Blessings.....

Glad you were able to hold it all together and are going to be together full time soon.  It is tough to have to split your time.  I've been doing it for the last couple of years and it is tough but "honeymoon" time is sweet :-)

Cindy If your guy is in the service I know what a sacrifice it is as my daughters husband is in the army. Hope your next time together is awesome.

Mike - Thanks and ugh I want my own closet LOL.....

Stacey - I wish you the best, it can be very lonely, but we knew we had to do this for us.  Our children are grown and I am fortunate because I have had my Mom and my 3 chihauhau's with me, I don't know if I could have done it  alone.  Good Luck and let me know how it is going.
