There obviously is no financial crisis if Zoey has been pre-approved for a $5,000 credit card

I occasionally get mail addressed to Mrs. Jim Frimmer (she doesn't exist), but today's mail brought a pre-approved credit card application for Mrs. Zoey Frimmer from a very large national bank. The application states that based on her credit rating, she is preapproved for a credit card with a $5,000 credit limit.

Now Zoey is a female, but to the best of my knowledge, she has no credit rating. She also can't read or write, so she cannot complete the credit card application.

The only place where Zoey has been connected to me is right here at Active Rain, more proof that Active Rain works!

Zoey needs your help in deciding what to do:

  1. Ignore the preapproved credit card application but save it in case she needs the $5,000 later
  2. Throw it away after cutting it into little teeny, tiny pieces so no one can apply in her name
  3. Have me complete it for her
  4. Learn to read and write so she can complete it herself
  5. Have me complete it for her and use it to buy all her cat food, cat litter, and cat toys.

Here are some pictures of Zoey to help you decide:

Zoey on the bed

Zoey in her chair

Look at her houses!

Some of them look like they have some severe deferred maintenance.

Does she look credit worthy to you?

Hi Jim! -  I say number 3 and then follow it up with number 5!  Buy as much cat-nip as her heart desires!

Where o' where did credit folks get her name & address?  Spooky!  KM

Go for it!  She looks retired to me, no income won't be an issue.  Once she gets one, all the banks will be after her!  LOL!

I suggest you go out and let her buy a new larger card board box.  the one in the picture looks rather small for her.

The scary thing is that I bet Zoey could have got approved for a mortgage with some lenders a few years ago too.

My 10 year old daughter has been invited to apply for credit cards a few times but never preapproved.  I've also been on the AARP's mailing list for the past 10 years so I get all kinds of offers for long term planning for seniors and the like (i'm 33).  That's the beauty of mailing list generated from huge databases.

Jim,

This is a great opportunity to teach Zoey the proper use of credit.  If she gets the card, she should get a part time job.  Nothing worse than a cat who thinks credit is free.  Next thing you know she'll be maxed out after a nice "kitty-cndo" and all the catnip.  Whoo-whee, I hate to imagine it.

Let her know that she'll have to deal with any collections calls if she falls behind!

I think she should just yawn, stretch, and go back to sleep and forget these silly humans trying to get her into the same credit mess with the rest of us.  Surely she's far too important for that nonsense.  She looks a lot like one of our cats, Dolly.  And I know Dolly doesn't put up with much silliness unless she's in the right mood. Then she can be very silly.

Just tear it up........ She seems happy without it.  She doesn't need to worry about bills!  Beautiful cat!

What a hoot.  It does make one wonder where they came up with her name and contact information.  I think the company offering the credit card in these kinds of situations should be reprimanded...

It is amazing. But we also had a cat once who was sent a credit card. We also routinely get credit cards for relatives who have passed away . None of this makes a lot of sense. Very cute kitty BTW.

I'd totally fill it out and see if a new credit card shows up!  We've received other random junk mail for one of our cats, but if a pre-approval comes in like that, I'm sending it back in!
