My youngest daughter just turned 20 years old. She is my baby girl. I love her so much and I sure do miss holding her like a baby and cuddling up with her. She slept in my bed with me until I married Nestor, she was about 14 years old then. She was born on September 14. I have 3 children who were born in September and Tristan at the end of August! I have one born in January and another in February. But September is the busy month around our house!

Tirzah

Tirzah is graduating from Palm Beach Atlantic University in December with a Bacholor's degree in Psychology. I am so very proud of her. She was homeschooled most of her school aged life. When she was 5 years old I knew she was gifted and so I had her tested and the results were highly gifted with an IQ that was over 140. So when she was 14 years old Palm Beach Atlantic University accepted her as a student. She never did a high school course, she went straight from Junior High to University courses.

Tirzah

This was her sweet revenge for what life tossed her way. When I was giving birth to her and pushing, all of a sudden my midwife began firmly telling me to stop pushing. I am thinking, are you crazy, I am pushing. She then very firmly told me again, stop pushing or you are going to kill your baby. The cord was wrapped around her neck. She had been in breach position for the whole pregnancy and while I was in labor I would rock back and forth like my midwife had taught me in order to get her to turn and she finally did. But that turn caused the cord to be wrapped around her neck.So she was born purple weighing in at 10 pounds 6 ounces. They would not even let me hold her, they rushed her over to the infant table in my room to work on her breathing. She ended up being just fine.

I held her in! I went into labor on Friday the 13th at about 8 p.m. I was 6 centimeter dialated when I got to the hospital.  I told my midwife and my kids that they were going to be sitting in the labor room with me for a while because I was NOT having this baby on Friday the 13th. She would be born on Saturday September 14th. Her sister's birthday is January 14th. So I would not walk around or get the labor moving. But as soon as the clock struck 12 a.m. I told everyone that she would be born soon. She was born at 12:40 a.m.

She was the youngest of the set of my first 5 children. I had five of my children before I was the age of 30. The boys looked after her and her sister became her rival in the teen years. Her biological father did not like her very much. There is a lot of history that we won't go into since I want this to be a positive birthday post for Tirzah. When Nestor came into our lives; she was thrilled because he loves her as if she is his own child.

Needless to say this affects children and soon I found out that my baby girl was bipolar. We went through very trying times with her when she was a teenager. The doctors kept changing her meds and her manic side would be way off the wall. Well, one day our regular doctor became so concerned with the drugs that the phsychiatrist had her on and explained to us the serious side effects of these drugs and how they were going to do more harm than good because she was so young. He wanted us to try diet changes. Tirzah went off the meds and discovered which foods caused the manic side and the depression side. Over the next couple of years she experimented with all the foods and now is in total control of her bipolar symptons.

Tirzah

This is often the case with very bright children, they tend to have bipolar or ADD or other labels placed on them. Some of the most successful business men and women are bipolar or have ADD or ADHD. They just did not fit in the mold that was sitting at their desk in school!

Tirzah

She was a child model and actress and very good at it. Tirzah also is a black belt in TaeKwonDo as are all of her brothers and sisters. She won some beauty pageants when she was a little girl.

My baby girl is growing up so fast and soon she will be off on her new career and starting her new family. I miss her already. Happy Birthday Tirzah!

Katerina - I am featuring this one in Family Ties tonight.  Your daughter is beautiful, and she sounds like a super-sharp girl, too!  I can't say that I blame you for not wanting to give birth on Friday the 13th.  I am not really very superstitious, but why force it?

Jason- I am not supersticious at all but I was thinking about the kids teasing her if she was born on Friday the 13th. They already teased her about her name calling her Tarzan. She would get so angry! Tirzah is a Hebrew name. She was Ben Hur's Sister in the movie with Charlton Heston. There are several passages in the old Testiment that bear her name. Thanks for featuring the post in your group.

As a mom of 2 daughters and 4 granddaughters, I can tell you they never stop being our babies. Sounds like you can be extremely proud of her. She's accomplished quite a lot!

Virginia- When My older daughter and my granddaughter moved out I was so sad! I miss them so much! And I am going to miss my Tirzah, baby girl, too. We let her room at the university in a dorm for 2 years from age 16 to 18. Then we helped her buy her car when she was 18 and she moved back home since then she could drive herself to college and back, it is about a 30 minutes drive. This gave her the 'college experience'. Of course PBAU is a private Christian College so there are girls only dorms, no sororoties, no fraternities, no drugs on campus, no sex, no smoking, no drinking. It is a great atmosphere of which I will post about in the near future.

Happy Birthday to Tirzah.  I had to laugh about holding her in so she was not born on the 13th.  My brother was born on Fri the 13th in a howling snow storm.  It is interesting that she is able to control the BP Disorder with food choices.  My mother was BP and I always thought episodes were brought on by envirionmental changes and allergies.  Congratualtions to her for her high acheivement and good luck in the future to your bright young woman.

What a beautiful story. You are so right about the very bright being diagnosed with special needs. My youngest son is almost 21 and has been fighting ADHD for years. Congratulations! :)  I think it's really neat that we can use AR as a special place to highlight the wonderful people in our lives.  It sounds like you have a really amazing family.  As I mentioned before, but I'm sure you don't remember, I just had a little baby boy and I can sure relate to that feeling of "they're growing up too fast!"  I guess it doesn't end.  It's just that bittersweet wonderful love that comes from being a mother.

Thanks for also mentioning the connection with food and her mood and mental health. I was reading a Dr. Sears book that mentioned a lot of kids who are diagnosed with ADHD and ADD can improve drastically with an improved diet.

My best to you and your family.

You've done your job well mom and now the bird must leave the nest. I don't envy you although there is a wonderfully bright future ahead with little ones that will call you Grandmother that look just like Tirzah.

A "gift"from God should always be treasured.

I wish more doctors, educaters and families better understood the power of diet and how it plays such an important part of our lives.

If you ever get the chance go to one of your favorite book stores and pick up"Eat right for your Blood Type"it explains which foods are toxic and which foods are complete brain, body and soul nourishment. A very good friend from Japan introduced us to this philosophy. I have noticed a big difference in my girls health ,emotionally & physically since following the diet guidelines.

Tirzah sounds happy , healthy and successful in her life , what more can a mother ask for.
