Music for an Active-Rain(y) Day

Fun with Photoshop!

OK, it's pouring outside. My clients are not returning my calls today, I don't have any appointments scheduled and gas is over $4.00 a gallon.

So I've decided to just take a mental health day!

For me, a mental health day means I'm still working on my Real Estate things. I'm just not getting all dressed up, putting on the name tag or even shaving!  No, it's not a pretty sight. I can assure you of that! But we all need a mental health day every now and then to maintain our sanity; or what's left of it.

But, it also means, that while I'm working, I'm cranking the tunes!

We all have our favorite bands, favorite songs, and memories of a favorite concert we've been to swimming around in our heads. I'm no different in that regard.
So, today, I'm blogging, sending emails and listening to my personal favorite band, America's very own:

 The Grateful Dead

The Grateful Dead

If you've never listened to the Grateful Dead, here's your chance. Just click the link below and press the play button...sit back, turn up the speakers and enjoy!

If you get confused, listen to the music play!

It's a nice jazzy show from the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, CA. on February 26th, 1977.

1st Set:

Terrapin Station, Minglewood Blues, They Love Each Other, Estimated Prophet, Sugaree,
Mama Tried, Deal

Playing In The Band > The Wheel > Playing In The Band, Samson & Delilah, Tennessee Jed,
The Music Never Stopped, Help On The Way-> Slipknot!-> Franklin's Tower, Promised Land, Eyes Of The World-> Dancin' In The Streets-> Around & Around
Encore: U.S. Blues

Craig, I can't work without music.  Funny you don't look like a dead head these days.  Were you able to hang out in your jeans and tie-dyes?

I never looked like a Dead Head! Well, maybe for a short time there. But my goal was to be incognito so i can maintain a professional appearance while still being able to let my hair down when I'm not at work! Tie by day, Tye Dye by night!

Nothing like the Dead for some mental health. I ran across your Brokedown Palace post about Karen George and it had me in tears. I adored her and miss her greatly. I'm working now, but just feel like listening to some Jerry. Keep up the great blogging. We are everywhere!

Good Morning Craig, I'm lovin' some Tennessee Jed!

One of my favorites:

Box of Rain

Look out of any window, any morning, any evening, any day.
Maybe the sun is shining, birds are singing,
No rain is falling from a heavy sky.
What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through?
For this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon, long ago.

Walk out of any doorway, feel your way, feel your way like the day before.
Maybe you'll find direction,
Around some corner where it's been waiting to meet you.
What do you want me to do, to watch for you while you are sleeping?
The please don't be surprised when you find me dreaming too.

Look into any eyes you find by you, you can see clear to another day,
Maybe been seen before, through other eyes on other days while going home.
What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through?
It's all a dream we dreamed one afternoon, long ago.

Walk into splintered sunlight,
Inch your way through dead dreams to another land.
Maybe you're tired and broken,
Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken and thoughts unclear

What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through?
A box of rain will ease the pain, and love will see you through.

Just a box of rain, wind and water,
Sun and shower, wind and rain,
In and out the window like a moth before a flame.

And it's just a box of rain, I don't know who put it there,
Believe it if you need it, or leave it if you dare.

And it's just a box of rain, or a ribbon for tour hair;
Such a long long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

Amy - There are so many good ones, it's hard to nail one down as a favorite. But Tennessee Jed is certainly as good as any to add to that list!

Craig-

Thanks for reminding me how much I miss listening to the Dead: Tennessee Jed, Box of Rain, the live Fire on the Mountain from Jamica, and the Jerry Garcia Band doing Dear Prudence and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, PRICELESS.

Craig-

I did, thank you very much. As a matter of fact after listing to the links I went in search of some of my tapper's collections and that is what I am listening to while I work on marketing my business as well as my wife's Real Estate business. Thanks again!

So do you wear Tye die T-shirts when you are not working (at the office I mean, on the days you have to shave)? Just wondering!

I just stumbled on this post! I cannot believe I missed it! It must have been written before I became a member of your fan club!

Terrie - I can't believe you missed this either! It's your responsibility as a charter member of the Craig Rutman fan club to go back and read ALL my blogs!. Well, maybe not the first few....they weren't that good!

I never wear tie-dye! I always joke though, "Tie by day, tie-dye by night!". However, I do enjoy listening to the Grateful Dead any time of day or night! In fact, I'm going to see them a few times next month!
