Hidden New Hampshire Talent

Last week I was invited to teach an Agency class for the North Country Board of REALTORS. Because they are located about 3 hours away from me they put me up in a hotel the night before.  It was a rainy foggy day as I arrived and the mist just enveloped the entire hotel...cradling it snugly! It was an awesome site to behold...lovely and serene and a bit spooky at the same time.  I just wish my camera would have done it justice.

Check out their web site for some truly fantastic shots.
I stayed in the Mountain View Grand Hotel located in Whitefield New Hampshire, this is a very old unique grand hotel that still requires an assistant to operate the elevator. The craftsmanship and decor is just marvelous especially if you love old homes. This is a truly clean and very quaint place to stay. I hope I get to go back there someday.

I can get lost in the romance of bygone eras...the image of the glorious ball room full of lovely ladies in ball gowns twirling about on the arms of dashing gentlemen was alive in my mind. Sadly I was alone...Jay stayed behind to pack up our motor home for a quick trip to Myrtle Beach South Carolina since we would be leaving as soon as I arrived home from my class the next day.

After prepping for my class I decided to go swim in the indoor pool. I was in for treat...thankfully I had my little camera in my bag. While I wish I had the big wide angle camera with me I was so happy I just had a camera!

The pool was incredible...my little 30 minute planned pool escape turned into well over an hour of pure enjoyment. The pool came alive with scenes of NH wild life...mountains and lakes all lovingly painted.

All the work of a local artist who painted the walls and ceilings of the indoor pool and then added many hidden images throughout it all.

The more I looked the more I saw! The murals all contained hidden images from a penguin to New Hampshire's fabled Old Man in The Mountain and was set up as a contest for local children to try and find the images.

Guess what Monika did??? I tried to find the images and had a blast doing so!

I was totally amazed by the talent of this artist that I started to take pictures to share with you all.

I don't know much about her but that she is a local woman named Caroline Belisle it took her 4 and 1/2 months to paint the mural and all the scenes are those that she actually saw and enjoyed in her beloved NH. She has 34 hidden images and she wrote in a note on wall that her heart and soul is in this Mural. I believe it!

Thank You Caroline for making this flat landers visit to the great north woods so special.

I took too many photos to post so I created a little tour for you all to enjoy.

A special  thank you to Betsy Hutchings,REALTOR for giving me the artists name and location.

Wow, thanks for sharing this Monika. What a lot of talent and patience this artist has! I wish she could see this beautiful tribute to her work.

NH--Home Sweet Home!

Thank you Sue. It was a sight to see and the hotel...so charming! I'd like to find her somehow, I asked at the hotel and the girl at the desk had no clue...who she was!  I think the artist has more to tell...this was a tribute to her sister.  Thanks for commenting.

Monika,

We get wonderful fogs here in Long Beach also, I love listening to the fog horns in the bay.  The pool is amazing, loved the painting, the show is great.

Thanks for commenting Laurie. Something very mystical about fog. I love it when we're fogged in on the coast of Maine...listening to light house horns and the waves crashing along the shore...

I live in NH but spend a lot of time on the coast of Maine...Love the ocean!

Gorgeous hotel. It reminds me of the Grand Hotel in MI.  That artwork around the pool is intriguing.

Maureen, It is a pretty neat old hotel, I'd go back and stay there again.

Moni the show was beautiful and the tree especially, fascinates me. What a cool idea to surround a pool. I think your foggy hotel photo shows the status of the day very well :-)

Great pictures Monika!

I've never been in there. My husband and I drove up to see the place the week before it opened. Had to do a Panorama shot to get the front. It was so huge! What a beautiful building.

Thanks so much Joan. I wish I had my wide angle camera with me! It sure is a neat old place.

Monika - that hotel certainly is beautiful.  I've stayed there twice for NHAR stuff, and it is just beautiful.  I missed the pool and that painting that you talked about.  I'll check it out next time I'm there.  It is a HAUL to get there, but well worth it.  I thought their grounds out back were gorgeous, and they have a stunning round room that's used for weddings.

Great pictures in this post!!

Ann, I loved that pool. I almost didn't go...thought my time would be better spent working on my presentation. But after a 3 hour drive...the pool sounded real good. What a surprise it was! I'd never stayed there before and thought it was very nice.

Monika, that was fantastic. I remember seeing your tour with the vacant chairs and that impressed me but I hadn't seen the rest of the shows. You do a fantastic job with real estate shows and your words are poetic. Where all do you go in your home away from home...it looks like fun and you are so blessed to have your partner for all those memories in the making.

The photos of the hotel are excellent but the video tour really did them great justice. I would probably still be in the pool studying all of the murals.

So glad that you had your camera with you, even if it wasn't the one you wanted.

I enjoyed reading your blog here and there.

Gena,

Thank you so much. What an awesome comment!  Jay and I tend to stay local with the exception of a few big trips a year, so we can go back and forth to work as needed. the beach is only 35 minutes away.  Next month we're taking the motor home down to DC for the REALTOR conference and we just returned from Myrtle Beach. I love my motor home! Thank you so much for your kind words :)
