In Houston, real estate can be as local as your neighborhood. Every area is different. The full effect of Hurricane Ike isn't fully known and as time passes more information will become available to all of us.

On the West & Northwest side of town many homes have regained power, water and trash pick-up. Most of the local roads, highways and entrance and exit ramps are clear for cars to travel.

Many of you have seen my sign pulled from your yard and can expect it to return as early as tomorrow, Thursday. Today I have 4 showing request from both Internet and phone call leads interested in seeing my listings. Buyers still need to see homes and are doing so on a rather large scale. Our local association www.har.com expects to be up and running in accordance with it's local schools schedule which is tomorrow. Most real estate offices are associated with www.showings.comor CSS as It's referred to facilitate and schedule their showings. As of yesterday, they are fully operational and staffed to handle their normal day to day operations.

Hey Greg! Glad to see you back in action.  Hope everything is getting back to normal for you.  Were any of the properties on your pending sales damaged by Ike?

Greg, I am sure that it will take some time to get things back in full swing but, at least things are beginning to come back to normal.  Glad to hear it.  Galveston is another story tho.

That is great that the buyers are still there and wanting to look.  Hopefully, it's not a start for low-ball offers of buyers trying to take advantage of sellers who had some issues and wanting a $25k credit for that fence that blew down.

Donna - It's already started to a small degree. Then again, that's why our sellers higher professionals so they don't have to deal with the tire kickers & bottom feeders.

Don - Galveston is another story alltogether. I feel really bad for everyone on the island.

Nancy - Very nice of you to say so.

You are right.  Eventually we will know the true effects of Ike. I am really worried about Galveston.

My brother, Mark, who lives in Houston  (Belaire actually)- said they had 100 mile per hour winds and he lost power, but no major damage luckily. He said that he was one of the luckier ones. He had 2 generators and was able to use them when his power was off, but he said he's about back to normal now.

Hi Stacy - 100 mph winds in Bellaire? Wow. I think we topped out at 60 or so. We've had our power on all week. Good for  him for having the generators.

Trey - I feel  horrible about all the agents, their pending transactions and such..

Hey Stranger,

Glad your good, we rode it out, the eye passed over us, no flood, minor damage, but this area is trashed, major flooding by all of the waterways, and lakes and of course the bay.  All of the houses are pretty much toast.
