Last week a message urging residents to  'Vote No' was sent out using the Village of Campton Hills newsletter and notification mail list.  The Village Publicity/Media Volunteer, Don Grillo, is also active in the Preserve Campton PAC. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... Getting interesting here.  Supposedly, he used the Village Mail list, the one used for newsletters, by 'mistake' and sent the political message to the entire distribution list.    I'm thinking two thoughts.....

1)  Either a blatant misuse of power....they guy's gotta go if that's the cae or;

2)  The guy is so dumb that he doesn't belong in his position....please....ignorance about using a village mailing list for political game.  If he's that stupid, then he just needs to go.  Is he crooked or stupid?  Not sure, but he still needs to go.

Our highly educated Village Attorney, Mr. Braithwaite was quoted:

Braithwaite said that volunteer Don Grillo - a volunteer who sends out the village newsletter and its electronic news updates - made an error when he sent the PAC's message on the village's e-mail list.

"He had an e-mail list for Preserve Campton and he used a village e-mail list inadvertently," Braithwaite said. "The basic rule is they should not be using public funds or public employees to electioneer when they're supposed to be working. He certainly did not do this intentionally. This is not a paid person, he is a volunteer ... and he's not going to do it again."  I should hope not mr. Braithwaite (herinafter Mr. B).

The point is, he does not have to do it again, the message is aready out.   The States Attorney was notified and said this was a grey area as no Village time or funds were used.  The Teflon syndrome is there again as the Village has another questionable move slide right off.  The link to the article is:

 As Forrest Gump said....stupid is as stupid does.

I also went into McDonalds.  They ask is this for here or to go.  I had a conversation with one of the clerks.  She said...that Campton has a dine in tax.  That's why it's cheaper to get your food to go.  Otherwise you pay Campton for the privilege of eating within one of Campton's finest restaruants.  So sad....I dine in tax?  I've heard that from a lot of people as well.  Doesn't Campton want more businesses within it's boundaries.  I'm sure there are businesses that want to leave b/c of the taxes that Campton will be charging them.   In conclusion we have

1)  Idiotic leadership within the village;

2)  Taxation (or shall I say penalty) that people pay to DINE IN in Campton Hills.

VOTE FOR THE DISSOLUTION OF CAMPTON HILLS....OUR ECONOMY IS WEAK and the Village wants to weaken the consumer even more.

Mistakes do happen, and there are outcomes fo each mistake.  The "dissolve" folks have made "hay" with this issue.  Now let's stick to the real issues, pro and con for a village.  Each of us is entitled to our own view on VCH.  You don't want it and I do.  Without the noise of emotion, please list the top ten reasons you believe VCH should be "kicked to the curb".  Make me a beliver.  Honestly, up until now I have heard or read little that would want me to remove my suppot for VCH, but I am open minded.  It may be honest difference of opinion, but try tochange my mind with clear arguments.

This dine in tax.  First I have heard of it.  Please cite what village ordinance put it into place.  It is really hard to believe that VCH couold have passed this without the Free Us folks screaming.  I would hope that someone of your standing would check out the truth behind this before publishing it as fact,

Mr. Bettag did his due diligence, Happy.  He asked a clerk at McDonald's to explain sales taxation to him.  Mac Clerk:  "Do you want fries with that?"  Bettag: "No, but could you tell me if Campton has passed any new sales tax ordinances under the Illinois Home Rule sales tax laws?"  Seriously, Larry, are you pulling our leg when you say the village has imposed this tax?  7% is the sales tax in unincorporated Kane county, same as in our village.  Here's the link for you to check out the facts: https://www.revenue.state.il.us/app/trii/servlet/TRIInquiry/7156332271221837190495?jobid=076375044

Check your facts

Larry, what are you talking about?

1. Your opinion of the elected officials is yours to have.  I disagree but this is America where Truth and Justice should prevail.

2. Tax and Spend???? Either you are "idiotic", ignorant or just plain not telling the truth.  Name and provide proof that the Village has taxed any one other than what used to be the Kane County share.  Oh yes there is one exception and that was the special district to repair drainage that the majority or the resedents in the afflected area wanted.

3. If you had spent less time checking out the truth about a so called dine in tax than you took spreading a falsehood you would have known for certian that it was untrue.  I hope you have more diligence in your professional life than in this issue.

Thanks for the opportunity for a response.  I do respect your right to your opinion but please keep to the facts.

Hey Kids...thanks for the fun banter.  I love it.  Here's the deal.  Obviously I need to re-clarify.

1)  No one commented on the PAC campaigning literature.

2)  Did I say new taxes????  I don't think so.  I said that I have an invoice....I'll print out 100 copies and leave it at the front desk.  All of you anonymous posters are welcome to come in and pick up a copy of the invoice.  I'm here only 1/2 of my day and rarely at the front desk.  So you won't have to worry about being seen by me.  I really don't care.  But on the Bottom of the invoice it specifically says....SALES TAX (VILLAGE OF CAMPTON HILLS)  7.0%.  Did I say more in this blog???  I don't think so.  ONE LINE ITEM IS ALL THAT WAS SAID.  NO OPINION JUST A BLACK AND WHITE INVOICE.  For me an invoice is not opinion.  I would classify that as fact.

3)  Conversation at McDonalds.  "Can I get an Iced Tea?"

Lady:  "Sure"...  She gets me a drink.

Larry:  recieve the cup and tenders money.

Lady:  "Is that for here or to go."

Larry:  "Why does it matter?  It's just an Iced Tea."  (Like a need a tray or something)

Lady:  "Because if you eat here there's a "dine in tax" that the village of Campton Hills charges.

Larry:  "OK"

Larry then walks away.   Very simple folks....Not too much to read into here.  I was reiterating a conversation.  I walk away thinking just what everyone else thinks....Wow....the strong arm of the law keeps reaching.

Mr. What?????  There's always an exception....thanks for noting the the special district.  That's the first of God only knows what.

In the meantime, my invoice is now at the front desk.  Come by and pick it up.  Needless to say, I received incredible service from Helping Hands PC.  They're an awesome business that hopefully will join us in what was formerly known as Wasco.

Happy Camper...I appreciate the kind words.  Since we were referencing fact....where can I send a copy of the bill?  Perhaps you want to come in and look at it.  Nope....gotta remain anonymous.  Doesn't matter.  The facts are in black and white and available to the public.

Hey...you're right about the campton sales tax...it is a county tax being passed through to the village.  My bad.  Needless to say the comments of which I didn't even bring up that there is the special tax for the drainage district is just the first tax.  Despite the claims of no new taxation, you kids bring up this tax.  I didn't even bring this one up.  Thanks for the support.  Appreciate it.
By the way...just for kicks, went and got another Iced Tea this morning.  It was 1.07 for "to go" and 1.08 to dine in.  I'm not making this stuff up.  I'm sure the 15, 16, --- 20 year old has no clue.  They're just following orders.  I'm just allaying what happened.  Deal with it.
