Trulia Listings on Your Smart Phone, Not just IPhone

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Missy Caulk TEAM

TruliaToday I received an email from Trulia, that you can now download their listings to your phone. This was available only on the Iphones until the latest update.

Using  a software called lightpole. Lightpole allows you get real time data on your mobile phones from any geo-specific area or content. I found when I downloaded the mobile app from Trulia this morning that it gives me restaurants, Yelp and Yahoo Listings to search.

Read here to find the Accepted devices, most are.

Now most MLS charge an add on fee to get the data to your phone, Trulia is giving it to you FREE.  Even more reasons to have branded your listings on Trulia.

Ok, this took me all of 5 minutes to do, and it is easy for all you non-techie ActiveRainers.  Once you download it, you will be sent a text message to your phone to download it. Run the program after it is finished.

Tips to get you started once you download.

Thank you TRULIA !!!

Interesting.  Isn't it amazing how free tools are surpassing the ones you actually pay to be a part of?  I'm not astutely familiar with Realtor dot com, but it sounds like they need to step up to the plate to keep up.

Another good question to ask Realtor.com when they call us for more $$..and the NAR.

Good heads up for us Missy, thanks.

realtor.com is so behind the 8 ball it's not even funny and even there new beta version is a hack of trulia and not a good one at that. I have the iphone app downloaded to my phone and it's pretty cool.

Petra, that is good, but as Chairman of our MLS, we are interviewing new vendors and they all charge it as an add on fee. Which provider for your MLS do you use?

Missy--I was pleasantly surprised at all the features Trulia offers. I like that they have a correction button on my listings. A listing didn't get the KWLS feed for the price change....I sent off an email and it was corrected within hours. Nice to know they are paying attention.

hi Missy and thx for adding another great resource to the group. Re "Why is Realtor dot com not doing this for all of us, when we pay dues to NAR?"...

You wouldn't believe how many times I've heard similar comments/questions lately. The NAR seems to be like the Microsoft of real estate, way behind on what their users(members) really want.

Hi Missy!

Thanks for sharing our mobile products with the AR community! Hope you and Krista are doing well.

Besides the iPhone, Blackberry, Blackjack, here is a list of all the phones and carriers we support:

http://support.trulia.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=5412&task=knowledge&questionID=426

and a link to our Mobile page:

http://www.trulia.com/mobile/

The app is free for all to use including consumers. I just put up a blog post today as we reached the 70,000 download mark for our new Trulia iPhone app - in about three weeks! Pretty amazing.....Lot's of consumers are using it and as mobile becomes more widely adopted, it will be how more and more people search for homes. Granted, it will take some time to reach the masses, but the tech savvy buyer is one that is already using it and finding homes and real estate information with their mobile device.

If your listings are already on Trulia, then now worries, they will automatically displaly on the iPhone and other mobile devices for all consumers to see. I'm sure your seller clients will appreciate you being able to offer their home via this new an ever growing medium.

If anyone has any questions, I'm here for you.

Cheers!

What a great tool!  And an awesome tip!  But ... while I have one of the phones listed they don't have my carrier listed.  :(

I'll have to keep an eye on it in case they get Alltel added to the list.

Thanks a bunch for sharing!

Petra, we have MLXchange too, but it is an add on for us. We only had a few Realtors sign up for it so it was not cost effective. So your board has already figured it into the dues.

Rudy, my bud, how are you and the twins. Christa is great, she wrote her first blog last week, glad to help out, appreciate all you do.

Missy - This is great information and I agree that Realtor.com is not representing it's paying members worth a darn.  I bet if Realtor.com could charge each agent $200 extra a year to format THEIR listings to work on a smart phone then Realtor.com would be all over it.  The struggle for me is that Realtor.com doesn't truly care about the Realtors who support their product and services (in my opinion).
