This image was recorder with a tripod mounted Canon EOS 5d with a Canon EF 17-40mm F/4 L USM Lens set to 23mm, F/7.1, 1/100 sec. I shot this in La Jolla, California this July while on a photography trip to Southern California. I think the sillouhte of the surfer against the sunset makes this image.

Bryant - I just may have to to bookmark this and use it as a Goal photo.  I learned to surf in La Jolla and would like to get back out in the water regularly.

Steve-

This is one of my favorites from that photo trip, stay tuned in the next day or two I will be adding more La Jolla and San Diego County images. The surf was pretty nice when I was out there in July, got a few good surfers and Boogie Boarders but I didn't take my longest lens on this trip so I am not satisfied with the results.

Bryant, Another gorgeous picture. I love the water and it looks so peaceful.

Our beaches are in a bit of an upheaval because of hurricane Ike.

Marchel-

Thank you, this is one of my more peaceful images. I'm glad to hear that you are alright after Ike. Being here in Hampton Roads and Living farther up the Bay as well we are no strangers to Hurricanes, though thankfully I can say I have never seen the devastation first hand that Houston got.

Thanks again for the kind words and take care!

Bryant - Great photo of the surfer and the sunset behind him, I love it and it makes me want to get in my car and head west. I am only a 5 hour drive away from the California ocean.

Beautiful. Even without the surfer, I think the contrasts are exquisite. BTW, I'm going to add you as a moderator to the Things to Do/Places to Visit group. Just make sure you read the rules and guidelines. You'll now be able to feature and delete posts. Thanks for volunteering! =)

Hi Bryant -  this is an awesome picture.   I agree that the surfer 'makes' the pic!

That is nice, and like you say, the surfer is what makes it come alive.

That's awesome, art is supposed to elicit an emotional response in people, good art at least, from your comment  I would say with this image I have done my job. Thanks again for the compliment! I think I am going to print this image and frame it for my office, the more I view it the more I like it as well!
