Wellington Florida has an awesome homeschool support group called PEC. We meet the second Thursday of each month at the Village of Wellington Pierson park at the pavilian. The kids get to play on the playground while the parents have a support meeting. This is a great time to meet new moms, support one another and be empowered in our mission to educate our children.

Homeschooled children tend to be very talented. My son who is 6 is now taking piano lessons and he has the ear for piano. I am very excited about that because there is a direct correlation between paying piano and comprehending mathematics. My mother was a very good piano player who also played the harpsichord. I wanted to play piano when I was young but when I complained about taking the lessons, my mother let me quit. Then I wanted to play the violin and then I quit. Then I wanted to play the flute and then I quit. I regret that my mother did not insist on my finishing one year or so with one instrument. Our son's piano teacher told him that he can play any other instrument he wants to as long as he still takes piano lessons.

When I went to talk to Jeff Atwater at the Meet and Greet for Homeschoolers in Palm Beach county, I met a young 17 year old boy whose name is Tyler Krome who played the piano effortlessly making it look so easy. He allowed me to video tape him playing the piano. You can view the video below.

Tyler is homeschooled and is dual enrolled taking college classes at Palm Beach Atlantic University, a private Christian college- the same one my 20 year old daughter is graduating from this December. He is going to major in music yet he also has many other talents. He is the President of the Teen Republican committee. Tyler also works at Palm Beach Atlantic University as their copy editor for the Sailfish newsletter. Of course, that certainly sparked my interest!

I just found my editor! He is going to edit our short sale help book. He also does web and graphic design. His talents will become very beneficial around here I do believe!

I saw a special segment on it recently on TV and was very impressed by what i saw. With the education system these days, you some times have to assume the responsibility of making sure that your kids get the best education.

Sara- Make sure you come back, you will be impressed.

Jeremy- He is also a good web graphics designer and a good editor, who will be my editor:) I am excited! Maybe I can learn piano one of these days!

Carol Lee- Thank you Carol. I love to homeschool. The only down side is that there is always more that I want to teach than there is time to teach it. I love to learn too. It is great when you can learn together.

Michael- You are right. And it is the parents' responsibility to be in charge of how the children get their education. More and more parents are home schooling because of how bad the schools are now. I mean, they are selling bullet proof backpacks to protect the kids from bullets!
