Room Solutions Staging in Portland OR was recently hired to stage an occupied home built in 1962 -- one with a unique style that we don't usually see today ... it was a Better Homes & Gardens 5-star Home back then!  The seller asked for a staging proposal and we also included many cosmetic updates & repairs that were needed prior to staging and listing the property.  He was very eager to have the home ready for the market and followed all of our recommendations (don't we LOVE when that happens?)  We used only the seller's items when staging this home.

This home rec'd a full price offer in 5 days!  The seller said that staging really gave his property an edge in today's challenging market.  Here are some Before & Afters ...

Maureen, I'm not holding out much hope for an uptick anytime soon.  I predicted last year our slump would last till 2010 and it seems to be headed in that direction.  We, along with California are amongst the hardest hit.  Foreclosures in my county alone are around 800 per month.  And we all know foreclosed homes are not going to be looking for stagers )-:

Congratulations!  We can't always change the dated features of a home when we are dealing with older homes. However, as you have shown here, when we use current furniture and accessory pieces and proper furniture placement we can achieve a welcoming environment so that any potential buyer can place themselves living here! Painting the door in the living area from the green to brown made a HUGE difference. Great artwork in the entrance too!

Susan ~ We provided the seller with quite a long list of Things To Do to prepare his home for selling prior to our return to stage it.  He worked hard for several weeks and yes, it was a lot of elbow grease!

Michelle ~ Painting the outside of that door was a big improvement, as well as removing the old and unattractive metal screen door that was there before. Thanks for your feedback.

Chrissie ~ You're right, before it DID look tired....but made for a good transformation.  I just love it when the homeowner is as motivated as this one was, and the sale was so quick. Everyone in the equation, including the buyer, was happy!
