For all you techies out there.
I am not a techie but I do know a good concept when I see one. And new concepts excite me. I am always on the lookout for the next great internet happening. Some are useful and some are, well just plain dumb. I always try to look at them as "How can I use this technology in my Real Estate business"?
On Twitter, if you like, you can send a "live" photo from your phone. Maybe some of you already know about this.
Even better on QIK you can send a live video from your phone!
Think of the possibilities of sending a live video of something happening and it gets around the world in an instant!
Social networking has reached a new level. I found this (QIK) by surfing through Ecademy, another networking site. I was speaking to someone from Brussels last night who was planning a Chocolate tasting event in Brussels! But that's a whole different post for another time.
Check it out for yourself at QIK
Yes you will need to sign up and join to send videos, but you can view them without signing up.

22 Comments on Sharing Live Video from your Phone, What's next?
Hi Jo, You know, I didn't think "my" phone had the capability either, but it does!! Who knew. Maybe you have it and don't know it. As for other networking sites, I am a poor excuse for a networker! I have been invited and joined and perhaps get there once a month. But it's interesting when I do get there.
Hi Sally, I have not yet ventured into the video stage. (Need a video camera for that) which is why I was so happy to find the phone video. Now if I can figure out how to get it to my blog....:)
Hi Karen, I do have video on both my phone and my digital camera and I did buy a FLIP Camera. Now, I have to get busy. I did check out the QIK site very quickly -- I'll check it out again, when I have a little more time. Thanks for sharing. :)
Karen, nice to see you blogging again :) :)
It is amazing what they are doing with the Cell Phones these days, I can't imagine what else they will come out with.
Hi Judi, I think the site has only been around since April from what I can tell, so it's still fairly new. Since you send the video through email, you only need to have your cell phone in working zone.
Hi George, Thanks. figured I better get blogging again:) Yes, I agree, it's a little scary. Pretty soon we will be wearing them or have a chip inside us that tells everyone who, what and where we are!! Hopefully I will not be around for that:)
Wow. I guess I better read the manual on my phone, lol. Cool technology.
Well now I'm wondering if my phone has this capability too! and I''m going to check out the qik site. thank you!
Serendipity... I just had a blog removed from your Newby board and I came here to check out your blog as a result of it. After perusing your posts, I'm glad it got removed, for I wouldn't have discovered you otherwise. Great job! You are now looking at your newest subscriber! I'll be back tomorrow to read some more.
BTW, I was just in Newport, RI in August. I walked the entire "Cliff Walk", which in my opinion should be at least in the top 10 best walking trails in the World, if not in the top 5! I fell in love with your area AND with Mystic CONN, which is only about 45 min. away (only when driving it at night, otherwise it takes longer).
Thank you for this illuminating post! I had no idea about OIK; I didn't even know about Twitter and live photos. I am going to have a good time with this next week.
Again, thank you!
Hi Margaret, Thanks for stopping by and I am coming back to see you I promise, just been very busy.
Mara, Let me know how you make out. I tried my phone and the video is very short, so it's not exactly what I was hoping for, but it's still kind of neat.
Mirela!!! I just finished emailing you about that post. Serendipity is one of my favorite things:) Sorry about the post. The Cliff Walk was actually designed and built by a second cousin of mine!! I agree, it's a fantastic walking experience! I have always loved Mystic CT, also, although I rarely get there anymore.
Karen: I know my phone does video but have never used it - just made two videos from my camera and trying to learn how to post them now. I haven't got into Twitter yet - I often put things off that I don't feel comfortable - but once I get going, I usually love it.
Cathy, I can't say I "feel comfortable" on Twitter yet. I'm still not sure what benefit there is to my business. It would be cute if I had time to kill and just surf around and see what other people are doing..but who has that kind of time?:)
Karen - I didn't kown this! It would be nice to use it for sending or showing the listing through the cell phone. I had clients who like to see more of property due too that there only one picture of property on the MLS listing.
Hi Cheryl, Now you can tell them to go to that site while you are inside a house and send photos from your phone, live!!
after all these amazing things like , live video, i am not sure why they call these things phones, thats about 5% of what they actually do anymore
Karen, can't believe how far we have come. I wonder what new things are still out there that we haven't even thought about. This is mind boggling. I can't wait to check it out and I want to hear all about the Brussels chocolate, by the way!
Karen: Will check it out. I find it more and more challenging to keep up with all the technology but lots of fun stuff for sure.
Are you using it Karen? If so do you still like it? It sounds pretty neat.
That *is* cool- I can think of a few times I could have used this. Thanks!
James, I expect we will have chips in our heads shortly, forget about phones!
Gina, I will be hoarding the chocolate for myself:)
Donna, I agree, so do I, but I am trying my best!!
Monika, No, I have not been using it, but I am going to, it's on my list:)
Chuck, I guess it's something we can link to after we have used it, maybe in a blog, or website. How many times have you wished you had a quick video of where you are at?
I just checked out my phone and found out I can take video - what fun. I have a camcorder, I have my camera that takes decent video and I want a FLIP video so that I will have something with me at all times. I have finally gotten into video - couldn't ignore it any longer. Thanks
Cathy, So there is no reason not to get good shots of everything, right? Amazon has a flip video on sale right now...
